Position Description

Talbot Street Church (TSC) is located in downtown London, Ontario. We have almost 70 years of history following Jesus while seeking to serve our community. Our roots come out of the reformed tradition, but we are “always reforming.” We long for the great commission to be our great commitment. We hold to the historic Christian faith.

Job Opportunity (Part-time, 20 hrs/wk)

This person will be responsible for the leading, planning, organization, execution and evaluation of Talbot Street Church’s student ministries. This ministry will focus on the mission of the church “Inviting People to Find and Follow Jesus” through the lens of developing the mind and spirit of our young people from grade seven through young adulthood.
This person will recruit and support volunteers while fostering a leadership culture that will encourage young people to commit to and follow after Jesus Christ. This leader will equip them for lives of service and empower them to participate in the life of the church.

Qualities Needed

  • Natural leadership abilities embedded in a Christ-like character
  • High energy, high capacity, highly collaborative, modern work-flow, technologically savvy
  • Plan, organize, lead and direct events and activities for CDs (Grades 7-8) Youth Group (Grades 9-12) and post-secondary students (Common Ground)
  • Lead teams of volunteers and “set the tone” to mentor and encourage students involved in each of our programs
  • Assist and support parents and volunteers in helping students from inside and outside our church form deeper faith-based experiences with short term mission trips that go into our communities to love and serve in Jesus’ name (We currently encourage this with participation in SERVE.)
  • Attend weekend events and mission trips with students to foster Christ-like relationships
  • Facilitate opportunities for growth and training amongst leaders and volunteers
  • Inspire our faith community to invest in the next generation
  • Connect student ministry to the missional goals of the church
  • Recruit, lead, inspire and empower volunteers to teach, care for, and invest in the next generation

Employment Expectations

  • Sunday mornings include minimal work
  • Highly flexible in time and place to accomplish goals
  • Work at church when needed for collaboration and meetings and ministry times

Employment Realities

  • Bondable and able to secure a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Salary and benefits commensurate to experience
  • Reports to: Pastor
