If so, come join our team! We are looking for someone to help record and monitor our finances in order to propel our organization forward with excellence.

  • Classification: Salary – Full Time
  • Start Date: October 1, 2019

Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for providing high-quality financial oversight for EduDeo Ministries.

Position Goals:

  • To ensure that all financial matters are carried out with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • To assist with various Human Resources tasks.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Finances: (80%)
    • Ensure that EduDeo’s financial records are accurately maintained.  This includes:
      • oversee data entry of all on- and offline donations
      • issue donation receipts
      • complete all tasks in the accounting cycle, including deposits, accounts payable and receivable
      • complete monthly reconciliations of all accounts (bank, donor database, financial software, etc.)
      • complete monthly payroll and government remittances, including EHT and T4s
      • complete T3010s and HST remittances
      • manage all banking documentation and credit card accounts
      • manage cash flow, providing projections as needed
    • Create and distribute monthly financial reports for the organization.
    • Facilitate and manage the annual audit with the Board-appointed auditor.
    • Ensure compliance with charity law and the Canada Revenue Agency policies.
    • Prepare reports for, and participate in, finance & risk committee and board meetings.
    • In consultation with the International Partnership Team:
      • coordinate all wire transfers to international partners.
      • assist in the financial record keeping of international partners.
    • In consultation with the Key Relationships Team and Marketing & Communications Team:
      • process donation receipts and TY letters for all donations and gifts received in a timely manner.
      • continue to develop Salesforce to meet our database needs and keep up with changes.
      • maintain and manage the donor database.
      • assist in the financial record keeping of HANDS funds.
    • In consultation with the Operations Team:
      • facilitate the creation of the organization’s plans and budgets.
  • Human Resources: (10%)
    • In consultation with the Operations Director:
      • assist in the provision of Human Resource services.
      • administer the group health and pension plans.
      • ensure that all documents concerning the employment of individuals and the running of a not-for-profit are up-to-date and meet government requirements.
      • provide general assistance to the organization as required.
  • Organization: (10%)
    • Be an active member of the Operations Team.
    • Be an active participant in team meetings, etc.
    • Provide assistance, as requested, at various significant organizational events.
    • Continue to grow through professional development opportunities.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His church.
  • Strong commitment to the vision, mission, values and goals of EduDeo Ministries.
  • Highly self-motivated, responsible, and confident in taking initiative.
  • High level or integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented.
  • BA in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA highly desirable.
  • Computer literate, including effective working ability with Microsoft Suite and database systems.
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Aptitude for continual learning and professional development.
  • Cross-cultural experience is a benefit.
  • Experience with Salesforce is an asset.

Reporting Structure:

The Controller reports to the Operations Director.
