Position Description

Established in 1941, The Scott Mission is a Christian ministry serving the poor of our community. Currently we are looking to fill the position of Case Manager within the Men’s Ministry department. The successful candidate will be part of a committed and dynamic staff community living out Christian faith through our ministry of compassion and love.  Inspired by the Biblical story of the Good Samaritan, we serve the urban poor, motivated by our calling to show God’s love to all.

  • Hours: 18 hours per week
  • Contract Dates: October 2019- May 2020

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend to the health, safety and spiritual welfare of children in the Lawrence Heights Community
  • Interact, influence, care for and supervise children during specific program times, connections and group trips inside and outside the Community
  • Direct, lead and assist in leadership programs, after school programs and literacy programs as well as daily program (including but not limited to organizing program trips, small group activities and bible lessons)
  • Plan, lead, and participate in weekend retreat programs, staff retreats and community outreach events
  • Actively share the gospel of Jesus Christ by demonstrating a vibrant Christian faith and lifestyle
  • Work in team settings and comfortable with dotted line reporting relationships
  • Tutor students and provide students with school support within assigned community
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Have a solid and vibrant Christian faith. Regular attendance at a recognized church or worshipping community.
  • Hold a solid understanding of Christian ministry and application.
  • Agree with and support The Scott Mission’s Christian Statement of Faith, Goals, Objectives, Conduct Policy and Philosophy of Ministry.
  • Affinity for working in a medium-sized non-profit, charitable environment
  • Strong desire to outreach, evangelize, engage in the local community
  • Highly relational with a strong desire to build rapports and care for the needs of children and youth
  • Proven track record to design and plan practical transformational lessons and lead games with creativity
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal and communicative skills with strong sense of responsibility
  • Able to positively influence, motivate and mentor children spiritually, emotionally, socially and intellectually
  • Physical stamina to sustain consistent physical activities with children
  • G Driver’s Licence is an asset; travelling required
