Mississauga Christian Academy (MCA) is a vibrant co-educational private Christian school in Mississauga, Ontario with over 160 students in our JK-8. Overview of the Position

MCA is seeking an energetic sewing instructor on a part-time basis to teach and implement a successful sewing program to students in Junior Kindergarten through to Grades 8. The instructor will be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough knowledge, ability to teach and assess students’ effectively in sewing.  

Areas of Responsibilities and Key Tasks

  • Create sewing projects tailored to specific age group
  • Create sample pieces of projects
  • Teach sewing to students based on basic, intermediate or advanced sewing skill levels
  • Teach sewing skills by hand and machine


  • Previous experience in sewing, alterations and/or sewing machine operations 
  • Thorough knowledge of basic sewing machines
  • Proficient in sewing and making items
  • Keen sense of color perception and fabric types
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional appearance and manner
