Position Description


We are a 2 year old church plant in Toronto’s east end with a growing Children’s Ministry. The mission of Christ Church Toronto is to invite and guide every household in the east end to make Jesus their highest commitment. 

The vision of our Children’s Ministry is to partner with families and other congregants to create an inviting, safe and fun space for children to learn about Jesus. We are passionate about creating a sustainable and Gospel centered children’s ministry in our church. Our children’s ministry has about 70 children, with a weekly average attendance of 55 in our Sunday morning programs.


This internship will give the successful candidate an opportunity to gain valuable Children’s Ministry experience in a church planting context. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Director of Children’s Ministry in teaching Sunday school, and preparing for summer camp(s). We will work with you to customize this internship to your interests and gifts. These are the 4 focus areas we would be prepared to focus on, please indicate your top pick on your application form:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of summer camp(s)
  • Prepare weekly supplies for children’s church
  • Write summer take home sheets for children’s church
  • Brainstorm and explore ways we can be connecting and serving our community context more

Leadership Development

  • Assist in weekly set up and tear down of church on Sundays
  • Rotate through serving in different areas of the church on Sunday mornings (eg teaching preschool, teaching elementary, readings and prayer etc)
  • Build intentional relationships with church and community members
  • Assist in developing and leading pre-camp training
  • Assist in developing a Junior Leaders training program


  • Maintain our children’s church attendance stats spreadsheet
  • Create an inventory system for Sunday boxes used for children’s church
  • Sit in on weekly staff meetings
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Children’s Ministry

Personal Responsibilities 

  • Invest in your relationship with Christ through personal prayer and devotion time; and invest time in fellowship with other believers
  • Be loyal to the vision and staff of Christ Church Toronto and protect the unity of the church
  • Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to Christ Church Toronto


  • Personal relationship with Christ
  • Comfortable working with children aged 3-12
  • Passionate about teaching the Bible and a strong desire to grow in this area
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem solving capabilities 
  • Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Child Protection Policy & Procedure training
  • First Aid & CPR-C certification (considered an asset)
  • Desirable: Some proficiency speaking French (not required, but considered desirable)


To be negotiated - ideally May through August 2020.


Christ Church Toronto will arrange for housing for the duration of the internship, but the intern must be comfortable raising compensation through a support team.
