Position Description

Description

We are seeking a part-time associate pastor who will divide their time between both women’s ministry and children and youth ministries.

Overview of Church and Community

Inniswood Baptist Church has served southeast Barrie, Ontario, since 1974. Barrie is a small city and regional centre of approximately 197,000 residents, and is the 'unofficial gateway' to Ontario's cottage country, located roughly one hour north of Toronto.

Our congregation is comprised of 85 members plus adherents with an average weekly attendance of approximately 100. We are a missional church, focusing on both local & global needs. Worship at Inniswood combines prayer, biblically-based sermons and a vibrant mix of contemporary and traditional music. Many congregants are involved in ministry and serving one another. We have small groups for bible study, support and prayer and mid-week ministries that focus on specific groups such as men, women and youth.

Roles and Responsibilities

The associate pastor will oversee the discipleship, counselling and equipping of women in becoming mature followers of Jesus Christ. They will be available to counsel and pray with women regarding life, mental health and spiritual matters.

Additionally, they will oversee and develop all programs and ministries for children from newborn to end of high school, including but not limited to: Sunday worship, Sunday school, children’s weekday programming, Vacation Bible School and special events.

Within these ministries they will recruit, coach and disciple team leaders and volunteers in order to provide growth opportunities for women, youth and children. They will seek to cultivate an environment where members demonstrate Christ’s love to one another in supportive and practical ways. As well, they will reach out to unchurched children and youth in the community and engage them with the gospel and in the life of the church. They will participate in preaching and teaching the Word of God to children and youth and occasionally the church body through sermons, Bible studies, workshops and other learning opportunities.

The successful candidate will report to and work under the guidance of the Senior Pastor. They will fully embrace the mission, vision and values of Inniswood Baptist Church and will require an understanding of the CBOQ, the Baptist faith and guidelines.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited Bible College/University is required.

This role requires a high level of initiative and demonstrated experience discipling and equipping women, children and youth.

Strong ability to lead and relate to people of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, and generations is an asset.

There is an expectation that the associate pastor will continue to prioritize and be held accountable for a deepening personal relationship with Christ. Inniswood is committed to providing resources and support to enable this growth.

In addition to the expectations in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9, the candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • strong leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • effective communication and conflict resolution skills
  • proven initiative
  • an innovative mindset
  • an understanding of their own spiritual gifts
  • demonstrated teachability
