Position Description

The Collective Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the people and resources needed to provide Collective Kitchen events

  • Term: 12–Month contract.
  • Hours: 4- 6 hours per week

Key Activities:

The Collective Kitchen Coordinator will work in partnership with the Brant Neighbourhood Support Worker as well as the Program Coordinator of Torchlight Services, with the potential of expansion, and with the purpose to facilitate and attend Collective Kitchen events.

Primary Activities

  • To develop cooking skills, foster good nutritional choices, and provide low-cost meals for participants to take home
  • Coordinating monthly meeting dates for groups to gather through communication with the New Life Ministry Coordinator
  • Menu planning, shopping and leading Collective Kitchen events
  • Ensuring general tidiness of the New Life Kitchen and Collective Kitchen pantry

Secondary Activities

  • Demonstrate the gift of encouragement, hospitality and service to all participants
  • To help foster leadership and decision making skills within the participants
  • To encourage the development of social support networks
  • To provide organization and supervision during cooking sessions
  • To extend the vision of New Life to “Know, See, and Be Jesus”
  • To ensure a welcoming and safe environment in compliance with the New Life Safe Church Policy

Accountability:

Monthly reporting to the Diaconate through a Deacon Representative, and annual reviews conducted by the Human Resources Representative through Council.  The Coordinator will also meet annually with the entire diaconate to discuss plans and objectives for the upcoming year.

Qualifications:

  • Shall have cooking and organizational abilities.
  • Shall have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Shall be self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Shall be a member of the Christian Reformed Church and committed to the vision of New Life Church as described in the Membership Covenant.
  • Shall have some of the gifts of encouragement, discernment and creativity.
