Position Description

Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is the vibrant, local Christian development agency that is leading an infectious movement - going beyond meeting immediate needs by offering holistic programs and a pathway that can transform the lives of people living with poverty in Toronto from merely surviving to thriving.

YSM is seeking a full time Care Manager & Employment Consultant to facilitate Jubilee Designs, a pre-skills employment program designed to train youth through arts-based experiential learning. Together with YSM’s Evergreen Arts Program and Employment Services, Jubilee provides youth with a safe and supportive work environment where they are trained to create products out of reclaimed materials and work to overcome barriers to their employment and education goals. Youth are also trained to facilitate group workshops in screen printing for corporate team building groups.

The Care Manager & Employment Consultant is a front line position and will report to the YSM’s Director of Street Involved Services as well as the Opportunities Fund Coordinator. This is a two year contract position.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Helping out the Drop-in staff when needed and available.
  • Delivering a dynamic program for youth experiencing multiple barriers to employment
  • Facilitating case management meetings with individual youth
  • Accompanying youth to court dates, housing meetings and other appointments as required
  • Recording case notes and tracking individual progress in transferable job skills as well as in more specific technical skills and productivity.
  • Supervising experiential production shifts and workshops
  • Maintaining a safe space for diverse participants, including the LGBTQ community, racialized participants, and people living with mental illness and varying abilities
  • Participating in team meetings and initiatives that address ongoing program development and evaluation
  • Building meaningful relationships through outreach with youth who access Evergreen services and challenging them to seek their full potential
  • Providing effective intervention in crisis situations


The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:

  • Post-secondary education in the social service field (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge in working with street-involved/at-risk youth from culturally diverse backgrounds and be able to teach and deliver a program experience.
  • Able to work with diverse people groups, within a multi-faith, multicultural, anti-oppressive framework
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to engage with a wide variety of personality types
  • Experience in sewing, screen printing or fine arts an asset
  • Computer skills and administrative/organizational skills
  • Ability to manage crisis situations, strong conflict resolution skills
  • A Police Check will be required/First Aid training is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to YSM’s principles of faith, mission and values
