Position Description

Trinity Bible Church of Ottawa (TBCO) is a healthy, growing, vibrant congregation of 250+ under the leadership of a new lead pastor, Matt Rice, who began his work with the congregation in early 2019. This church has a thriving children’s ministry that is feeding into our Youth programs and we are praying for a leader who can give leadership to families with children and youth. The successful candidate will disciple and run programs for children, youth and families, with occasional opportunities to preach and take on other pastoral duties as required.

Job Duties

  • Maintain an authentic, growing walk with Jesus Christ
  • Coordinate all aspects of children and youth, including programs, curricula, weekly activities and disbursement of funds for supplies and projects, while keeping within budgeted amounts
  • Lead programming as follows:
    • Children – Sunday school classes for nursery to Grade 5 on Sunday mornings; summer VBS and camp programs
    • Youth – Junior and Senior High youth programs (currently running concurrently on Tuesday evenings)
    • Families – Family night program with classes for adults and children up to Grade 8, currently running on Thursday evenings
  • Identify, recruit, equip, and deploy necessary workers and leaders for the smooth operation of all aspects of programming for children and youth, and support the currently approved Plan to Protect policy for volunteers
  • Disciple key senior youth to grow their leadership abilities to enable them to have an impact in their communities and among their peers
  • Support the Pastoral Team Leader with prayer and practical assistance in carrying out the mission and vision of the church by attending staff and prayer meetings, assisting with occasional preaching duties and participating in church events and other programming

Qualifications and Skills

  • Dedicated follower of Jesus capable of fully supporting the mission and vision of TBCO
  • Able to proclaim the message of the Gospel clearly and articulately
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop a good rapport with a variety of people, with a focus on children, youth and parents
  • Comfortable with public speaking, leading small groups/classes, team building and one-on-one coaching

Education and/or Experience

  • Undergraduate degree and/or master’s degree in biblical, theological or Christian ministry training from an accredited university or college
  • Must be credentialed by the Associated Gospel Church (AGC) of Canada
  • Experience in leading children and/or youth ministries or similar programs
