Position Description

Located in Toronto’s Davenport Neighbourhood, near Seaton Village and The Annex, Christie Gardens Apartments and Care has been serving elders in Toronto for over 30 years.

Christie Gardens was the first not-for-profit community in Toronto offering a true continuum with choices to suit lifestyle and needs. Lifestyle options include life lease suites, rental apartments, and the Courtyard Community—a resident-centered social model. Today residents at Christie Gardens have access to additional on-site care and services and the assurance that if more care is required, a move away from home at Christie will not be necessary.

The leadership of Christie Gardens is seeking a Director of Resident Services who will provide key support to the Executive Director with primary responsibility for Facility Maintenance, Security/Concierge, Housekeeping and Laundry, Reception and Resident Services. He/she will ensure seamless integration of all department policies and procedures while cultivating innovative community living for elders.

Key Leadership Responsibilities include:

  • Building relationships to promote the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing of residents
  • Providing choice and decision-making opportunities to residents in all circumstances, maintaining residents’ autonomy as much as possible
  • Creating an environment in which excellent staff morale is fostered and staff retention is a priority
  • Overseeing daily operations of each departmental area to ensure that the highest possible quality standards are consistently maintained, and that service is provided in a highly professional manner
  • Develop and maintain a performance improvement program for the facilities, suites and guest rooms, offices, public spaces and related services
  • Oversee and manage all major project implementation
