Position Description

  • Position: 11 weeks, 40 hours/week, requires evenings, overnight and weekend hours
  • Start Date: June 15 (Grant dependent)
  • Location: Various sites in West Edmonton, Kids On Track Offices (15641-96 Ave, Edmonton, AB)
  • Rate of Pay: $15.20/hr

  • Implement recreational summer programs for community youth
  • Act as a cabin leader for one week of overnight kids camp
  • Focus of the youth program will be outdoor education skills and activities including field trips and remote camping experiences
  • Activities may include a week long camping experience, a 4 day backpacking or canoe trip, and other recreational activities
  • Provide supervision to youth involved in the program
  • Facilitate the integration of youth from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Reports directly to the Youth Manager and Assistant Youth Site Coordinator
  • Create mentoring relationships with community youth with a focus on facilitating the development of appropriate and supportive social relationships with other youth and adults
  • Implement the lessons and activities including religious instruction and mentoring in Christian character
  • Implement learning activities that are age appropriate, utilize experiential learning techniques, linked to practical life applications, and build social and physical competencies


  • Must be in agreement with the Christian mission of the organization
  • Must be an experienced leader in youth activities
  • Must be able to adhere to the design principles of making sure the program is developmentally appropriate, safe, and welcoming of diversity and uniqueness
  • Must be physically fit and able to lead a wide range of recreational pursuits including but not limited to canoeing, swimming, backpacking, hiking, and cycling
  • Must have driver’s license and access to own vehicle (mileage reimbursed) an asset
  • Class 4 or Class 2 (Bus license) an asset
  • Must have current CPR Level C and First Aid certificate
  • Must submit a clear Police Security Check and an Intervention Record Check
  • High Five Principals of Healthy Child Development certification an asset
  • Priority will be given to applicants with outdoor pursuits experience, wilderness First Aid, canoe instruction, and National Lifeguard certification
  • Minimum of 18 years of age and under the age of 30 (grant requirement)
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or protected persons under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and legally entitled to work and study in Canada (grant requirement)

Educational, social, spiritual, and recreational elements are combined to deliver well-rounded programs. We cultivate relationships with participants encouraging their faith, character and leadership development, social skills, and lifestyle choices. We strive to support families that have limited opportunities due to various challenges.
