Position Description

Job Summary:

This position is an interim contract: Our current Children’s Ministry Director is going to go on maternity leave at the end of August. This temporary position would last solely for the duration of the ministry year, from September 2020 until the end of the 2nd week of July (the week after VBC is complete). This position will entail 15 hours per week.

 

Objectives: 

  1. To teach children the principles and truths of the Bible.
  2. To lead children to a personal understanding and faith in Jesus Christ.
  3. To encourage children and show them how to live out their faith according to what the Bible teaches. 
  4. To lead, support, and encourage volunteers who help serve in the TREK program.
  5. To lead, support, and encourage volunteers who help serve in the VBC program.

 

General Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the weekly Children’s program (TREK) during the school year onsite (or online if required).
  2. Lead our summer Vacation Bible Camp (VBC).
  3. Attend Vineland Missionary Church.
  4. Communicate regularly with the staff supervisor, fellow staff, and church congregation about the TREK and VBC ministry in order to inform and build excitement.
  5. Find ways to have the TREK children build connections to transition and participate in Sunday worship throughout the year (e.g. Christmas or Easter pageants).
  6. Lead a team of TREK volunteers by: recruiting, training, delegating, and organizing.
  7. Lead a team of VBC volunteers by: recruiting, training, delegating, and organizing.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Have a strong and visible faith in Jesus.
  2. Have completed formal education in early childhood education or the like, or have equivalent experience.
  3. Have strong organizational skills.
  4. To be self motivated.
  5. Be a positive staff team member. 

 

Other Responsibilities: 

  1. Attend regular staff meetings.
  2. Assist the Lead Pastor when necessary and possible.

 

As Elders we intend to:

  1. Support the TREK and VBC ministry with the tools, budget, and materials needed to allow the ministry to grow and flourish.
  2. Provide an office for preparation.
  3. Provide a positive work environment.
