Position Description

The Mission Center Supervisor position is a full time contract position as soon as possible. 33.5 hours per week, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday to Friday and Saturday 10 am to 1:30 pm. Salary range is $18.05- $18.70.

Job Purpose:

To ensure the smooth and safe operation of the Mission Center.

Operations:

  • Complete a daily walk through of the Mission Center
    • Ensure that a tidy and uncluttered appearance is maintained throughout the facility using the Mission Supervisor Checklist
    • Garbage and Recycling to be put out on the roadside on Friday AM and garbage room kept tidy/clean
    • Plan for and ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the 22 Fifth Street Facility and property
  • Regular Volunteer cleaning
    • Regular inspections
    • Periodic Repairs and Maintenance – inside and outside
    • Consult with the Executive Director about any professional repairs that are required
    • Snow removal and ice maintenance
  • Food and Hygiene Rooms
    • Oversee the operation of these areas
    • Track client visits as well as the weights of food being distributed
    • Fill in when necessary
  • Apartments
    • Arrange for maintenance of the apartments
    • Arrange for notification of inspections requirements
  • Saturday Meals
    • Work with Warehouse Food Manager to co-ordinate Saturday meal schedule and supervision
    • Do devotional moment each week before meal
  • Receive donations from donors and store them in the proper spot
    • Ensure morning coffee and donuts are ready by 8:45 am when Fellowship Hall is open
    • Respond to client, volunteer, and donor questions as they arise
  • Inventory Management
    • Complete Purchase Orders for needed supplies
    • Complete weekly food order on Wednesday
    • Maintain a First in First Out inventory system with all food
    • Keep shelves in the Food and Hygiene Room organized
    • Keep the freezer and cooler organized
    • Check non-perishable inventory frequently for expired food
  • Volunteer management
    • Equip and lead volunteers to accomplish needed tasks
    • Oversee the tasks volunteers are doing and provide assistance when necessary
  • Serve as a Connection to the broader work of Open Arms Mission of Welland Inc
    • Newsletter – Provide one story every two months with the purpose of keeping OAM partners aware of what is happening at the Mission Centre
    • Management TEAM – Take part in team meetings
    • Board of Directors – Work with other staff to produce a monthly report of Mission Centre activities and updates. 

Qualifications and skills:

  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Highly detailed-oriented
  • Excellent work ethic, communication, and time management skills
  • Sensitive and compassionate, able to work with vulnerable and marginalized people in a client centred manner
  • Organized and proactive
  • Punctual with reliable form of transportation
  • Full G class license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs
  • Desire to support and promote our values and mission
