Position Description

Organization Overview:

SIM is a 127-year old catalyst for global missions that goes above in prayer and beyond in care to bring good news to hard places because there are people living and dying without the gospel. The vision of SIM is to see a witness to Christ’s love where He is least known, disciples of Jesus expressing God’s love in their communities, and Christ-centered churches among all peoples. SIM Canada is part of an international mission organization with more than 4,000 ministry workers, serving in more than 70 countries, from over 60 different diverse nationalities. We are both a sending and receiving agency, sending people from Canada, receiving people to Canada, and serving in Canada alongside the church. We are looking for people who love Jesus and who are willing to use their skills on one of our ministry teams here at home or worldwide.

Position Overview:

The primary purposes of this role are to harmonize and coordinate communications for SIM Canada. To grow and amplify brand awareness for the fulfillment of our Mission’s goals and objectives and to strengthen our relationship with our audience and stakeholders. 

This position reports to the Executive Director with a dotted line to the Director of Projects, Communications and Facilities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy
  • Prepare and manage the production of all communications material
  • Develop a brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms
  • Manage relationships with various vendors
  • Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content
  • Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions
  • Manage presence at mission fest or other major mission-centric events
  • Create budget and ensure compliance
  • Coach and orient new missionaries on communications
  • Organize video production
  • Coordinate with other SIM offices with regards to communication initiatives
  • Brainstorm creative ways to engage churches/donors and help the mobilization team with resources
    • Work with Director of Mobilization and Church Engagement Representatives
  • Oversee internal communications
  • Marketing & Print
    • Grow social media and online presence
      • Content Creation
      • oversee Google Ads
    • Web content creation and management
    • Produce general promotional materials for SIM events and special occasions
    • Monthly newsletter creation coordination
      • Interact (SIM Canada member newsletter)
      • Do you know someone? (Mobilization newsletter)
      • TCK Newsletter (collaborate with TCK Coordinator)
      • By Prayer Newsletter (collaborate with Prayer Coordinator)
  • Print
    • Create communication pieces for missionaries and others as needed
    • Harvest relevant information then coordinate with the designer and or printer
    • Gather content for SIMNOW - Content creation & editing of SIMNOW magazine (3x yr)
  • Donor Relations/Fundraising
    • Drive and develop fundraising and awareness-raising campaigns
    • Appeal Writing - Print & Online
    • Manage and assist IT with Canada Helps platform
  • Webinars
    • Work with Executive Director and Director of Mobilization to produce and plan bi-weekly webinars on Zoom


  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, or equivalent
  • Work experience within the communications and marketing arena, original writing and editing, and some public relations
  • Knowledge working within Wordpress
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
  • Familiarity with Canada Helps platform
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies
    • Zoom, Mailchimp, Including various social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, lay out, and publishing with strong copywriting/editing abilities
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, HTML coding, and digital graphics production
  • Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills

Work Location & Hours:

  • SIM Canada National Office - 10 Huntingdale Blvd, Scarborough, ON  M1W 2S5
    • Full-time position (Mon-Friday) with some flexibility
  • All Members of the National Office are expected to be involved in the following:
    • Attend Daily Prayer Chapels (8:30 AM – 9:00 AM)
    • Attend Monthly Half Day of Prayer (every 2nd Wednesday of the month)
    • Participate on staff Committees as needed or have interest
