Position Description
Reports to: LIT Director, LIT Assistant Director
Commitment: May Long Weekend, Staff Training, Weeks 1-8, November Reunion Weekend (date TBD)
Expectations:
- 19+ years old (by Dec 31 2020)
- Compliant with Staff Standards (see Staff Manual)
- Mature Christian, confident in answering questions, with a passion for discipleship
- A desire to mentor and disciple young people
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Patient and kind, enjoys working with teenagers
- Good listener, discerning, calm under pressure, able to deal with situations in a Godly way
- Able to maintain a high level of responsibility and accountability
- Maintains a high level of responsibility, and will supervise and care for teenagers diligently
- Ability to provide guidance and encouragement for LIT’s in leading their own cabins
- Preferred: Experience with Outtripping
Responsibilities
- LIT Training Weeks:
- Abide by all camp policies, know, understand, and follow Plan to Protect guidelines for safe
- interactions with LIT’s
- Intentionally develop relationships with all LIT’s assigned to your small group
- Spend daily time in 1-1s with members of your small group individually, praying with them and
- supporting them in their spiritual development (at least 2 1-1s with each LIT over the 2 week training
- period)
- Encourage independence of proper hygienic care of LIT’s in your cabin/ small group (showering,
- brushing teeth, changing clothes) and taking their medication
- Establish and follow bedtime routines, making sure lights out is respected at 11 pm
- Bring any recurring or significant behavioural issues to the attention of the Assistant Director
- Ensure LIT’s are respecting the “no relationship” rule during the program with each other
- Maintain a clean and tidy cabin area - emphasize cabin cleanliness with your cabin
- Teach or assist with electives as assigned
- Come up with 2 electives-half an hour each, to send to the Director before LT Weekend
- Participate in Emergency Drills as directed by the Waterfront Director
- Canoe Trips:
- Co-lead a 4 day canoe trip with each session following the instructions from the Outtripping Directors
- Encourage and support LIT’s to take initiative and share responsibility on canoe trips by doing dishes,
- selecting roles at each portage, cooking meals, setting up and tearing down sites etc.
- Placement Weeks:
- Check in on each member of your small group at the beginning and the end of their first week of
- placement
- Support, encourage and pray with small group members in these 1-1s
- Opening Day
- Ensure cabin and surrounding area are clean, tidy, and ready for campers
- Warmly welcome campers and their families. Assist with setting up personal belongings, and escort to
- the Activity Area
- Assist as requested by Assistant Director and Director
- Closing Day
- Meet with Assistant Director and other LIT staff to debrief the week and pray
- Thoroughly deep clean cabin - spray and wipe all mattresses, sweep floors, empty garbages etc.
- Time off begins with the completion of all assigned tasks and the permission of the Director
