Position Description

This is a designated position for someone who identifies as BIPOC

Start Date: September 15, 2021
Terms: 28 weeks @ 20hrs/week

The Dam is partnering with youth to create inclusive community where all are welcomed, valued and respected. We operate 2 drop-ins in the neighbourhoods of Cooksville and Meadowvale in Mississauga.

Youth worker will assist with youth outreach programs as a team member working with youth leaders and full-time staff at our drop-in and outreach during the f all and winter programming. Youth worker will work alongside staff both virtually and in-person (as pandemic restrictions permit) at drop-in locations and in the community.

Youth worker will provide services to youth utilizing online and remote services. Activities will be engaging significant digital connections and tasks including social media. Responsibilities will involve technology, graphic design and a variety of social media platforms. The Dam programming is highly relational and will involve youth worker developing positive relationships with youth both in-person as permitted and virtually online.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with youth to create an inclusive community where are all are welcomed, valued and respected. Engaging and supporting BIPOC youth will be a priority of this position.
  • Engage youth in after school drop-in and development programming including planning and implementation. Programs will include both in-person and virtual options.
  • Participate in all programming both virtually and in person.
  • Support any youth outreach in the community.
  • Build supportive relationships with youth.
  • Plan and implement activities, programming and events for youth.
  • Support staff in administrative tasks and events.
