Position Description

(17 week position May 9-September 3)

Provide mature leadership to Summer Staff and campers through role-specific responsibilities and general Summer Team responsibilities (see below).

Mentor & coach cabin leaders in order to provide better camper care:

  • Lead sessions with staff and volunteers each week regarding the foundations of cabin leading
  • Oversee cabin spiritual development

Promote a healthy cabin life experience through:

  • Leading the Sunday evening rotation game during Overnight camper weeks
  • Overseeing cabin time opportunities
  • Coordination of on-site group cookout evening
  • Camper curfew enforcement (a.k.a. Night guard)
  • Camper behaviour management/discipline
  • Creating disability-inclusive programming opportunities for campers

Mentor & coach Bridge Staff through:

  • Orientation and training sessions
  • Weekly one-on-one meetings
  • Working with Program Director (PD) to assign Bridge staff assignments

Co-emcee 1-2 weeks during Family Camps:

  • Give announcements; make mealtimes fun, etc.
  • Assist with staff training when required

Collaborate with other Summer Team members to lead the summer programs:

  • Work with PD to design and facilitate programs for PeeWee Camp (ages 6-8) over the May long weekend
  • Provide support (i.e. feedback and participation) to Special Events Coordinator for camp wide special events in both Overnight Camps (i.e. Special Events) and Family Camps (morning program activities and Café Night)
  • (May/June ) Assist in support roles (ie. maintenance, food service, janitorial) as necessary
  • Participate in Firesides (campfire songs, skits, etc.) with direction of PD
  • Participate in the chapel worship team if musically inclined 
  • Lead at least two 5-10 minute devotionals during daily staff meetings
  • Lead a week of “Mini-Wheats” during Family Camp (biblical object lessons for children)
  • Plan and execute 8 Family Camp Chapel sessions for your assigned age group (Micro Saints (3-5 yr olds), Scampers (6-9 yr olds), Heroes (10-13 yr olds), Teens (14-17 yr olds)
  • Assist PD in managing staff lights out.
  • Adhere to all current Covid-19 safety protocols as outlined by Camp Management
  • Assist with enhanced cleaning protocols as required (eg. Program areas)
  • Work with PD to plan a Summer Staff community event before summer begins
  • Attend all staff meetings, chapel sessions and firesides
  • Keep yourself and others accountable to the camp policies & procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director
  • Reports to the Program Director


  • Preferred age of 21 or older
  • Past experience leading cabin groups in a Christian camp
  • Past experience supervising a staff team
  • Experience dealing with behavioural management and conflict resolution
  • Sound foundation in their knowledge of Scripture
  • Basic First Aid & CPR
