Position Description

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all local fundraising activities in collaboration with committees, local development team and administrative staff, Centre Directors, National Call Centre, Marketing and Communications, volunteers and students to meet or exceed approved fundraising budgets
  • Lead the local Teen Challenge Canada Major Donor Program including identifying and recruiting new major donors, maintaining major donor profiles, pursuing regular face-to-face meetings, and managing phone and email communications
  • Ensure community and donor relationships are continuously developed, enhanced and nurtured
  • Coordinate and lead local fundraising events including, but not limited to: Galas, Golf Classics, Freedom Runs and Freedom Rides o Establish & equip volunteer committees to support these local initiatives o Solicit corporate sponsorships and donations for events while maintaining existing corporate relationships
  • Oversee Sunday outreach engagement and lead local church outreaches o Lead, mentor and mobilize a team of volunteers and students for outreach events o Pursue meetings with new churches to grow outreach initiative
  • Effectively communicate and promote Teen Challenge Canada’s development initiatives to prospective donors, volunteers, committees and staff o Coordinate and participate in local Ambassador Team and other Committee meetings, as required in support of goals o Enhance the capacity of volunteers and staff to fundraise through coaching and developing straightforward techniques for asking for support o Actively support and champion local Capital Campaign initiatives (as required)
  • Help set and achieve annual budgets for various fundraising initiatives
  • Input donor information and update/maintain data in Teen Challenge databases
  • Act as a liaison for local donors and churches to Teen Challenge Canada
  • Ensure sensitive/confidential information is handled in strict accordance with Teen Challenge Canada’s policies and procedures Other duties assigned by the Director of Development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Grade 12 high school diploma
  • Minimum 3 years experience and a proven record of success in fundraising
  • Experience raising funds or working for a non-profit organization (considered an asset)
  • Experience developing, implementing and executing a successful capital campaign (considered an asset)
  • Demonstrated, well-developed influencing, negotiating and sales skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to work as a team player and facilitate and mobilize support
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Resourceful, motivated and energetic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, resourcefulness, flexibility, adaptability, leadership and discretion
  • Ability to multitask and meet ongoing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and process information by email, phone and in person
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Productivity Software and fundraising data base programs
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to adapt to within a changing fast paced environment
  • Basic mathematical skills for tracking progress and donor communications
  • Apply patience, kindness and compassion on a daily basis
  • Driver’s License Class G and clean driver’s abstract

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel required
  • Overtime as required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Work is conducted in an office, church and community setting
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • The atmosphere may vary from a calm to a fast-paced setting depending on daily events
  • Operate office equipment including computer, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, phone and other equipment as necessary
