Position Description

HOURS: Full-time (40 hours/week); SALARY: $40,000 - $60,000 per year

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Worship Pastor plays an integral role in furthering the mission and vision of Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel (“the church”) by providing leadership and oversight to our worship, technical and sound ministries. The role is responsible for building, organizing, and overseeing a vibrant and healthy worship ministry and assisting with general pastoral duties. The incumbent must model Christ-like character and see their work as essential to discipling our community, especially through music, scripture, and prayer.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Reports directly to the Senior Pastor. The position will be evaluated every 6 months.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be in agreement with our Statement of Faith
  • A vision, passion, and calling for worship ministry
  • Demonstrate the Biblical qualifications for pastors/elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • Well acquainted with contemporary worship culture and trends
  • Able to teach/preach in an effective, engaging manner
  • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Experience and proficiency leading others in worship through music, prayer, scripture, and reflection
  • Experience/ability in leading a team in crafting authentic, God-honoring worship experiences
  • Strong planning and organization skills, high on follow-through
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain supportive relationships and effectively lead others in a Christ-like manner
  • Possess a team approach, able to develop and integrate various worship team members with varying musical backgrounds and skill levels
  • Formal ministry training and/or experience in worship and/or pastoral ministry

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Lead, oversee and grow the worship ministry of the church (worship teams, sound ministry, livestream, tech development, multiple campus services, etc.)
  • Equip, mentor, shepherd, and disciple musical and creative teams to encourage their spiritual growth and technical capabilities
  • Plan and organize events/activities in keeping with ministry goals, including leading worship at Gravity (contemporary Young Adult outreach)
  • Oversee all aspects of the Sunday Worship Service – production, musical worship, audio/visual, set-up, etc. and evaluate afterwards
  • Communicate consistently with team members and staff
  • Creatively share program plans through social media, website updates, and other means
  • Assist with general pastoral duties, including occasional teaching/preaching
