Position Description

THRIVE Discipleship Program

“Forming Whole & Holy People”

Bethany College's Thrive program is looking for a Program and Student Development Director to assist in creating a Christ centred living and learning environment for our students.

Responsible to: President/Board of Directors

Accountable to: President

General Duties: Develop and facilitate the course schedule while balancing work with students to foster both personal and spiritual growth.  Expect a flexible ethos that assumes change.

Hours Required: Full-time (30 - 50 hours per week depending on seasonal requirements)

Compensation: To be negotiated depending upon experience

Term Position: This is a 1-year term position with potential for renewal.

Start Date: August 15, 2022

Responsibilities and Requirements

Leadership

  • A person of strongly developed Christian faith and character, living an exemplary life in which one can say to our students “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” This does not necessitate perfection, but rather a spirit that is open to continual transformation.
  • Facilitate the development of vision and strategic planning for the ministry of the school.
  • Responsible for the general and spiritual welfare of Thrive.  Be a person of prayer for Thrive, its programs and personnel.
  • Someone who connects naturally with young adults and demonstrates a passion to draw them into a deeper walk with Jesus.
  • A servant leader who is both visible and approachable - demonstrating Integrity, honesty, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, resilience, and a healthy/balanced work ethic.
  • Willing to collaborate and invite multiple perspectives with both staff and students, working closely with others in leadership settings which are dynamic and constantly changing.
  • Committed to the SK MB Conference Statement of Faith, including the ability to work successfully within the MB Church Community and with Sask. MB Conference Leadership.
  • Someone who demonstrates management skills and an ability to make difficult decisions in an environment with competing demands and limited resources.
  • Directly oversee both the female and male Resident Directors

Thrive Discipleship Program

  • Ensure that the program is running in accordance with the vision, mission, and key objectives.
  • Oversee Curriculum development, scheduling, implementation, and assessment.
  • Ensure that the facilities are appropriate for mission fulfillment.
  • Actively seek new relationships and acquire ministry opportunities for the program
  • Encourage and support community life among the students in conjunction with the resident directors.

Mentorship of staff and students

  • Responsible for student development and assessment, responsible for being aware of the overall emotional and spiritual health of the team.
  • Coordinate enrollment process, receive and enter applications, create and maintain files for all students and update academic system on an ongoing basis

Human Resources and Administrative Duties

  • Seek out and remain connected with instructors to ensure that we have solid foundational truth in the classroom based on the word of God
  • Oversee the ministry staff and provide leadership, direction and decision making as required
  • Cultivate student unity and corporate morale
  • Good organizational and administrative skills, being able manage time and resources well and having proficiency in the use of computers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a specific ability to effectively communicate and facilitate communication in a group setting.
  • Assist in fundraising initiatives and donor relations
  • Contribute to the promotional strategy of both the program and the facility to the marketplace
  • Contribute to planning and executing major events on campus.

Recruitment/Church Connections

  • Drive relationships with church, community, and potential students through intentional and strategic contact
  • Represent the mission of the school in the public.
  • Active involvement in the recruitment of students
  • Oversee marketing strategies.
