Position Description

We believe that God brings healing to a broken world through local churches.  CBM works strategically alongside a network of partners in 14 priority fields, providing assistance in the following areas: Poverty, Justice, Kids at Risk, Building the Church and Crisis Response.

The full-time, contract ministry position of Accounting and Systems Specialist will assist the finance department for the next 24 months as CBM moves its accounting system and CRM system. This role will take on finance and accounting duties and assist with the project implementation.  This is a 24 month contract position with a potential for renewal upon organizational requirements. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide oversight and review of accounting transactions to ensure accuracy on a monthly basis
  • Provide back-up for team members when necessary (in areas such as expense reporting, payroll, and donations)
  • Maintain the general ledger with Team Lead, ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries
  • Administer, maintain, and provide training on the expense platform used by the Organization
  • Monitor transactions to ensure adherence to compliance and policies
  • Provide internal review/audit analysis annually on staff and project expense reporting 
  • Review endowments and schedules regarding endowments and other designated funds to ensure appropriate and effective utilization of funds for operational purposes
  • Co-manage the risk management process within the Organization
  • Assist Organization in managing special projects with Partners; this involves assessing, designing, and implementing process improvements within a multi-organization shared service environment. 
  • Provide Project Management to the systems upgrade and work closely with the vendor (system upgrade from NAV  2016 to Business Central)
  • Work with the finance team members in their respective functions in preparing for the upgrade
  • Identify new system processes to consider for process improvement
  • Assist with system mapping
  • Assist with CRM upgrade as needed
  • Provide project management support for the integration of the finance and CRM systems.
  • Integrate and coordinate Teams initiatives on behalf of over Finance department
  • Attend weekly CBM Chapel and contribute to the overall spiritual growth of the organization
  • Contribute to assigned office tasks.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in similar finance or accounting roles
  • CPA (or legacy CPA, CA, CPA, GGA, or CPA, CMA)
  • Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics Nav and SQL
  • Knowledge of Jet Reports design or Power BI an asset
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficient in Excel; capable in Office 365
  • Ability to take initiative with little supervision
  • Attentive to detail and solid analytical abilities
  • Ability to “think outside the box”, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities
  • Ability to solve problems and use sound judgement
  • Ability to work independently
