Position Description

All Saints Kingsway is a vibrant and growing Anglican church located on Bloor Street in the west end of the city with a long tradition of strong music in our corporate worship. We are looking for a professional and enthusiastic individual who works well in a team environment and who will direct our music ministry, lead us in worship for the glory of God, and encourage congregational participation in our rich Anglican tradition.

We are looking for someone who understands music leadership to be an expression of Christian
discipleship and faith through the leading and aiding of the congregation’s corporate worship.
As a member of our staff, the Music Director will report directly to the Rector. They will provide direction, oversight, and coordination of the musical elements of the main Sunday morning service, including the planning of liturgical elements, leading and growing our volunteer choir, and playing the organ. They will also offer oversight and resources to the musical elements of our Sunday evening contemporary service.

Key Functions:

Service Planning

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and coordinate the musical elements of Sunday worship with the liturgical calendar and with service themes and the lectionary readings from Scripture, as well as prepare and plan for any special services (Holy Week, Christmas, etc.).
  • Plan all the musical elements of the weekly worship (all hymns, sung portions of liturgy, and other special music) to foster broad congregational participation.
  • Oversee and coordinate music for the choir.

Choral Direction and Organ

  • Play the organ for Sunday services.
  • Rehearse with the volunteer choir and direct them in the leading of the musical elements of the
  • Sunday services.
  • Develop and grow the volunteer choir in quality of music and breadth of repertoire.

Music Administration

  • Coordinate for any maintenance of instruments, including the organ.
  • Ensure all copyright laws are followed.
  • Arrange for any guest musicians, vocalists, or organists for special services or events.
  • Oversee and operate within the music budget as set by the All Saints Executive.
  • Manage and maintain the All Saints music library.


Candidates must have experience and proficiency in the following:

  • Music education/training, e.g., A.R.C.T., BMus, B.F.A., R.C.C.O. Certification.
  • Leading and training of choirs
  • Understanding of Anglican liturgy
  • Appreciation for and ability to lead worship in the tradition of Anglican choral music
  • An appreciation for the contemporary Christian worship catalogue
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality


  • Play the pipe organ and piano
  • Ability to foster and teach congregational/choral singing
  • Ability to manage time and schedules effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment of sometimes competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Attention to detail


This is a part-time, 15 hr per week, position.


Salary paid according to the 2022 RCCO salary table
