Position Description

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR 2022-2023

Our church’s motto is Christ-Centered and Family Focused. We are a Bible based, evangelical church with a worship style that is mostly contemporary with some traditional mixed in. We love to have fun and laugh together as well as lift one another up and encourage one another in times of difficulty.  Reaching the children of today’s culture for Christ is very important to us.

We are looking for a part-time Children’s Ministry Director (16 hours per week at $20/hour). Hours are flexible, except Sunday mornings are mandatory. An ideal start date would be anywhere from October to mid December. The Children’s Ministry Director will work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and partner with the staff team in the overall vision and direction of the church. The Children’s Ministry Director will provide leadership to the Sunday morning children’s program with a focus on fostering an engaging, fun and Bible based relational program. The successful candidate will empower lay leaders, be enthusiastic, visionary, relational and flexible in managing people as they lead volunteer teams to develop children spiritually. Understanding and good communication with children, parents and leaders are essential. The Children’s Ministry Director will organize and plan occasional children/family activities and give overall leadership to the yearly VBS or camp program. Goals for the future could include the development of an early evening mid week program.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Use your vision and experience for leading the children’s ministry. Be the primary “upfront” leader that is able to use things such as skits, songs with actions and other resources to provide interactive and creative Bible times. Being able to captivate the children’s attention and being flexible to group dynamics are essential. Prepare for and oversee volunteers during Sunday morning services and/or a potential midweek program depending on the direction of the children’s ministry. Communicate clearly with staff and volunteers any pertinent information regarding Sunday morning services Connect with parents and or have volunteers connect with parents to provide encouragement and address any concerns. Actively recruit new leaders and team members in the children’s ministry Regularly provide for the care, training, and appreciation of the volunteers Actively manage volunteer schedules

Love for God and passion for children Experience working in children's ministry, as a staff member or volunteer Intermediate level PC operation skills, including word processing and spreadsheet ability. Standard software programs utilized: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Powerpoint, etc. Team player and team builder Strong interpersonal skills Great work ethic - timely and reliable Trustworthiness - able to handle sensitive material with good judgment and confidentiality
