Hours 37.5 hrs/wk

Skills & Education requirements

  • Strong understanding and prior experience in bookkeeping and computerized accounting systems and controls (i.e. QuickBooks) and spreadsheet use
  • Three years or more of financial management experience; or, a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, business administration, commerce or a related discipline
  • Experience in information technology and/or CRM administration would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Expert knowledge in finance and accounting procedures and regulations
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional reporting skills

Job Overview

To assist the Director of Finance & Administration (DFA) in administering the financial and administrative matters of the District including financial, payroll, policy and office management

Job Responsibilities

Financial Operations 70%

  • Oversee and assist the DFA in all financial, accounting and human resources activities.
  • Responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and budgetary comparisons of all ministries and District funds; develop financial statements, review content of financial statements and budget comparisons.
  • Responsible for year-end and auditing process and work with the District’s independent auditors in the preparation and completion of the annual audit of the financial records.
  • Assist the DFA in the development and assembling of the annual budget
  • Assist the DFA in the financial support of the District from churches and
  • statistical information of supporting churches.
  • Assist the DFA in the expense reimbursement automation system (Nexonia)
  • and integration with the accounting software.

Office Operations 15%

  • Supervise employees in accounting and work directly with the DFA in support staff office matters.
  • Work directly with staff regarding facilities, computer services, and personnel matters.
  • Assist the DFA in the maintenance of office, security (alarm system), printers and other equipment, managing operational services (janitorial, elevator, door fob system).
  • Assist the DFA in planning/rearranging the layout of offices; assist in rentals and use of the meeting spaces.

Properties 5%

Assist the DFA and other parties in property transfers, inventorying and disposing of properties and tangible gifts received and/or donated to the District

Policy & Research 5%

Assist the DFA in developing, documenting and monitoring the appropriate financial, operational and personnel policies and procedures

Additional Duties 5%

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, including being available to serve at District events as necessary
  • Research various legal, tax and employee matters
  • Assist the DFA in answering inquiries and questions from church treasurers, bookkeepers, pastors about T3010, finances, accounting, HR, benefits, etc.
  • Develop historical church statistics and computerize data; update statistics on a current basis.
