Position Description

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and reporting to the President, the VP of Ministry is responsible for raising the effectiveness and engagement of the overall ministry and raising the funds necessary to fuel the organization’s plans and objectives.
This includes a high degree of involvement in researching and leveraging new products, fundraising and ministry opportunities. This also involves developing processes and identifying suitable supplier partners to make all aspects of the ministry strategy effective, efficient, and highly attractive. Staff development through coaching and mentoring are critical in this role.


Strategic Planning & Partnerships

  • Championing the core values and mission of the organization, you create strategic, tactical, and operational plans in collaboration with the ELT, for ministry initiatives that aim to achieve the overall goals of the organization, including the increasing of engaged members and supporters.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term financial plans and forecasts in accordance with business goals and objectives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor and industry activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
  • Identify potential partners and build business plans to integrate new partners into the organization, communicating and negotiating with partners as needed.

Ministry & Ministry Training Program

  • Oversee the implementation of the ministry programs; including the collaboration of the domestic and international ministry division into one Ministry.
  • Build a successful and sustainable ministry with clear succession pathways.
  • Accelerate the ministry model of mobilizing members, helping churches grow and multiplying our efforts through volunteers and partners.
  • Develop a sustainable Global Church Partnership model for the countries in which we work.
  • Raise church support through the Global Church Partners and denominational partnerships.
  • Cultivate a sustainable Indigenous ministry model in North America.
  • Develop a Fundraising philosophy that can be used in each of the Engage a Nation (“EAN”) regions, develop the associated training material and present local fundraising courses to our partners
  • Assist in the launch of the USA ministry and lead it to a sustainable future.
  • Provide leadership to ministry training based on the Grow Your Church Program.
  • Oversee the development of mobilization training material and run any necessary training/teaching courses to help Trip Alumni with fundraising efforts.
  • Identify, train and release leaders for GO Trips and other leadership functions within the organization as well as within our volunteer network.

Operations & Administration, Communications

  • Manage the personnel review process.
  • Collaborate with other divisions to ensure smooth and cohesive operational tactics and plan align across the organization.
  • Develop reporting templates for the international and fundraising functions as necessary.
  • Generate and distribute the necessary reports.
  • Provide leadership in the absence of the President, as required.
  • In conjunction with the Communications team, foster creativity and innovation, to raise awareness, creating a larger following and promoting increased membership.


  • Strong experience speaking to a wide variety of audiences, across a diverse range of cultures.
  • International experience.
  • An affinity to short-term mission experience.

The hiring range for this role is $110,000 - $115,000.


  • Vacation 20 business days, plus 2 additional personal days and 3 extra days over the summer.
  • Cell phone allowance.
  • Laptop / home office hardware provided.
  • Car Mileage up to 200KM or car rental reimbursement.
  • DCPP Pension Plan 5% matching (Sun Life).

Workplace Environment

  • Office Location: 501 Imperial Road North, Guelph, ON N1H 6T9.
  • Hybrid: 2 days a week in office, 3 days remote.
  • Travel: In the first year of the role, 25%-30% of the time will be spent traveling, of which 20% will be international travel. Travel will be reduced to 15%-20% of the role after a year in the role.
