Position Title: Inventory and Logistics Support

Position Type: Contract (3 months) /Part Time (30 Hours/week)

Position Reports to: Food Services Manager

Position Summary: The Inventory and Logistics Support will be an important member of the KSM Food Services team and will be responsible for the organization and movement of inventory to support various program functions. This will include but is not limited to inventory tracking, shipping and receiving, donation sorting, Community Delivery packing, and restocking the market and volunteer supervision.

In addition, this individual will work closely with the Food Services Operations Coordinator and support the setup, organization, and supervision of other Food Service programs such as the Food Market and Choose Fresh. This role can be physically intensive, and the individual will often spend time away from their desk.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Warehouse and Inventory Management
    • Develop and oversee processes within the KSM warehouse and storage facilities, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are working in a safe and effective manner.
    • Facilitate volunteers in the sorting process while ensuring the sorting space is consistently organized and ready for use.
    • Train and oversee volunteers in market stocking and inventory tracking operations while providing an engaging and positive volunteer experience.
    • Identify potential upcoming product needs and communicate inventory status to the Process and Administrative Coordinator.
    • Ensure storage spaces are organized and safe and maintain the highest food safety standards.
    • Innovate new processes as needed to better enhance the operations of the Food Services team.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
  2. Shipping and Receiving Logistics
    • Work with the Process and Administrative Coordinator and Food Services Support to create a delivery and shipping schedule for food and another inventory movement.
    • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that there are adequate hands to support any shipping/receiving operations.
    • Liaise with delivery drivers and suppliers to facilitate the movement of trucks and delivery vehicles onto and off the premises.
    • Utilize a pallet jack or walkie-stacker to support the loading and unloading of goods from transport vehicles.
    • Drive the organizational vehicle to and from pick-ups and drop-offs as needed.
    • Ensure that all donors are treated with utmost gratitude and respect.
    • Work with the Food Services team to receive, track, and sort through food donations coming to KSM.
  3. Market Restocking
    • Work with the Food Services team to ensure that the market is set up daily.
    • Stock and organize the market to provide a clean and streamlined environment for volunteers and clients.
    • Collaborate with volunteers to ensure that the market operates smoothly and efficiently while providing clients with the best experience possible
    • Support with the rotation of inventory, Choose Fresh, and other products within the market.
    • Step into a variety of roles in the market as needed.
  4. Community Delivery Fulfillment
    • Monitor the set-up and tear-down of the community delivery space to ensure smooth operations.
    • Oversee the operations of the packing process, ensuring that all orders are completed efficiently and accurately.
    • Oversee the delivery of food packages ensuring that all clients receive the food they requested and that the volunteers are safely able to complete their roles.

  • Experience working with inventory management systems is an asset
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety policies
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Operationally driven and motivated for excellence
  • Ability to work independently and complete projects to desired outcomes
  • Ability to move inventory up to 50 lbs at a time regularly
  • Strong Problem solving and innovation skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Computer proficiency with MS office programs
  • JHSC and First Aid Certification is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a related position or equivalent experience
  • Valid G license is required
  • Great driving record
