Position Description

Reporting to the Advancement Director, the Events Coordinator will provide leadership in the vital area of event-based constituent engagement, fundraising, and donor acquisition. This position is responsible for MCC BC’s signature event, The Festival for World Relief, that generates more than $1m annually, and to support the Run for Water in Abbotsford, an event with which MCC BC partners that generates $300k annually. These major events are crucial to MCC BC’s fundraising strategy. The incumbent is also responsible for Fundraising and Engagement Dinners in the spring of each year, and other events of various size that will provide opportunities for people to learn about, engage with, and financially support the work of MCC BC.

This is a 1-year term position covering a maternity leave and available on a full-time salaried arrangement (37.5 hours per week).

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The nature of this position entails evening and weekend duties, particularly at crucial times such as Festival, constituency dinners, and other key events. Time off in lieu of weekends and evenings worked will be negotiated in advance with the Advancement Director. Based in the Fraser Valley where most of the major events take place, the position will require overnight travel within BC for 10-15 nights per year to locations including Prince George, Fort Saint John, Kelowna and the Okanagan, Victoria through mid-Island, and Powell River. Given the international scope of MCC’s work, there may be occasional overseas travel to gain first-hand knowledge of projects, and to introduce key stakeholders, including donors, to that work.

This role is based in the MCC Centre office in Abbotsford. A mutually agreed upon, in-person/remote, hybrid schedule may also be possible.
