Position Description

Part-Time (0.5 FTE)

Elim Chapel is a non-denominational church of disciples who have been called to help
others become disciples of Christ. Our congregation of approx. 100 members worships
together every Sunday morning in downtown Winnipeg. We are currently seeking to fill a
part-time paid position that provides pastoral care to the children & youth of our
congregation, and to shepherd them towards becoming committed followers of Christ.

Responsibilities Include:

Planning, organization & oversight of:

  • Regular Friday evening youth meetings
  • Sunday morning children’s programming
  • Kids summer day camp program
  • Other special events as required
  • Developing (or selecting) & maintaining age-appropriate, Bible-centered lesson plans
  • for both ministries
  • Providing training & support for volunteers to facilitate regular activities
  • Collaborating with administrative staff, delegating tasks as appropriate
  • Fostering lasting, meaningful, healthy relationships with the children & youth of our
  • congregation
  • Working alongside deacons, pastoral staff and elder board to ensure that ministries
  • are in alignment with the goals and vision of Elim Chapel
  • Ensuring that our activities, programs and volunteers are in compliance with
  • appropriate safety protocols for children’s & youth ministries

Qualified Candidates will Demonstrate:

  • A personal and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ
  • Evidence of spiritual gifts, particularly teaching and leadership
  • A passion for ministry and providing spiritual guidance for young people
  • Ability to work well as part of a diverse team of staff and volunteers, and to learn from
  • the experience of others
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize as necessary is an asset
  • A post-secondary degree (complete or near completion) in Theological Studies or
  • Youth Ministry is an asset
  • Prior experience in children’s & youth ministry (employed or volunteer) is an asset

Conditions of Employment:

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Agreement with Elim Chapel’s doctrinal statement and governing documents
  • Hours are flexible, but the expectation would be an average of 20 hours a week
  • Valid criminal record check and child abuse check is required for this position
