Full-time Pastor
Full-time Pastor
SEAFORTH, Ontario , N0K1W0
Position Description
We are seeking a Pastor (Full-time)
A Snapshot of Bethel Bible Church and the community of Seaforth:
Bethel Bible Church is an Associated Gospel Church, located on Main Street in Seaforth, a pleasant rural community in Southwestern Ontario. Our weekly gathering typically includes 45 to 50 people, and more for special events and services. Our congregation has a long history in Seaforth, and God has been faithful and has richly blessed us over the years with solid preaching, and miraculous interventions. We endeavour to make ourselves known in the community through outreach and involvement in community events. At the annual Seaforth “Santa Claus Parade”, for example, the church opens its doors to serve hot chocolate and treats to the parade-goers.
We host a yearly Vacation Bible School in August that draws many community children to its programming, as well as a “Boys and Girls Club” that runs throughout the year, and a monthly Men’s Breakfast. We have recently started a Women’s Breakfast that meets at various times of the year. We value our relationship with the town and enjoy free use of the park in the heart of Seaforth to hold outdoor services there in the summer months, as well as special Musical Concerts.
Seaforth has many opportunities for involvement in sports at many age levels, as well as other artistic and musical activities. “Volunteerism” is welcomed at agencies like the local Food Bank. To find out more about our community and surrounding areas, we would direct you to the following websites:
Bethel Bible Church has several families with young children, as well as singles, couples with grown families, and seniors. We have an obvious “gap” when it comes to families with teenage children that we would love to fill. Our church website is another means of learning more about us as a congregation.
A recent survey taken of the various leaders of our congregation, revealed a church that loves God and has a heart to share the Good News of the Gospel with others, whether in our community, or in the larger world. Our budgeted Mission offerings, for example, help us support several foreign missionaries and organizations.
The results of this survey correspond with an earlier survey of our entire congregation and, we feel, they consistently show where our “heart” is, as a Congregation. To that end, we are looking for a Pastor to further teach and mentor the Congregation in order to equip us to fulfill our ministries through the building up of our gifts and skills.
To summarize, one of our people said, in effect, “We are like a brand new Church!” We have had excellent teaching in the truths of the Scriptures, but now we are waiting to see whom God is going to send us in order that we might move ahead and be a brighter light to the people of Seaforth and Huron County.
A Snapshot of the Pastor We Seek:
We are searching, with God’s guidance and the direction of the Holy Spirit, for a Pastor who is led by the Spirit of God. The following Scriptures present areas of Ministry that would be important to us as a Congregation to see in our new Pastor:
- A willingness and ability to share the Good News with others (Matthew 28.19-20)
- To lead and assist the Congregation to determine and use our gifts (Ephesians 4:12), and to mentor and advise regarding Spiritual Growth (Titus 1:9).
- To preach the death and resurrection of Christ. (Acts 6:4)
- To comfort and help to heal the hurting and discouraged (Acts 20:28).
This person would be forthright in preaching the Grace and Mercy of God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He would be able to help us achieve our desired outcomes alongside our Church leadership team of Elders and Deacons.
This person would be outgoing and one who truly enjoys meeting and working with people, both in the Church and in the community. This person would have a “Big Picture” vision. He would see ways to innovate the means of achieving the goals of our church. He would have the skills to unite the congregation behind the overarching vision of our ministry which is to see others won to Christ; and, he would share our Congregation’s heart for a global-view of Missions, both internationally, and, at home.
Our new Pastor would be one who would initiate ideas and anticipate difficulties, but who would not be one to do all the “legwork” himself to see these ideas come to fruition. He would find the people in the congregation with the gifts to pursue the desired outcomes, and mentor and advise them as required. To put it another way, Bethel Bible Church is looking for a “Player Coach”, one who leads and teaches, but who does so from alongside, and in association with the congregation, the Elders, and the Deacons, being able to motivate and disciple our people. Our new Pastor would have the gifts of comfort and encouragement to those who are hurting and discouraged. He would have an honest concern for the spiritual welfare of each member of the Congregation, and he would be bold in finding ways to bring back a viable ministry to the Youth of Bethel and the surrounding communities, together with those in the Congregation who feel the lack of this ministry most strongly.
Basic Requirements for our new Pastor:
Bethel’s new Pastor must be able to be accredited by the AGC. See the Statement of Faith
We seek someone with:
- solid academic credentials, that would include successful studies at a Bible College and/or Seminary.
- successful ministry experience. This could include work in a church as a Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, or Supply Pastor; a Teaching Ministry; Short or long-term Mission work; or other ministry experience.
- a willingness to re-locate into or near to our community of Seaforth. We understand the housing situation is difficult at present, but a commitment to seek housing nearby as it becomes available and appropriate would be welcome.
- A candidate chosen for an interview would be prepared to provide personal and work-related references.
- We are prepared to offer a mutually agreed upon remuneration package, in line with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
