Associate Pastor Position Description
Thistletown Baptist Church:

Associate Pastor
The associate pastor will be responsible for giving leadership to our ministry to children and their families. This will involve discipleship of children from nursery through high school. We would like to develop a cohesive plan for discipling this demographic. This role will also focus on shepherding and assisting parents/ guardians in their role as the main means of discipleship in their homes.
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Schedule: To be determined (full-time)
Salary: 51,300/ year
The Associate Pastor will be expected to be in attendance at all TBC gatherings (i.e- Sunday morning, prayer meeting, etc.) and any ministries related to children and families (youth group, outreach events, etc)
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
- Work together with Senior Pastor/ elders to help shepherd and give oversight to the members and ministries of TBC
- Help to develop a cohesive plan for discipling children and youth of TBC
- Work with current children and youth ministries to help give direction and mobilize volunteers
- Work with children and youth ministry volunteers to engage and provide resources for parents
- Work with Urban Promise and The Saviour Baptist Church to help develop partnership opportunities
- Take part in Church Board meetings with Senior Pastor and other church leaders (biblical elders and deacons)
- Attend elders' meetings
- Model commitment to the church's mission
Pastoral:
- Must meet the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7. etc)
- Must have the desire to teach
- Must be willing to preach as needed. (Usually once a month during the Sunday gathering)
- Must maintain meaningful, appropriate interactions with children, youth and their families
- Develop pastoral relationship with children and youth in conjunction with parents/ guardians
Desired Qualifications:
- A growing relationship with and commitment to Jesus
- Must be a baptized member of a local church
- Must see the value of commitment to a local church.
- A commitment to being faithful to God's word in teaching and example
- A strong sense of calling to work with children, youth and their families.
- A desire to see children and youth saved and discipled by the power of the gospel
- A desire for evangelism (regardless of particular gifting)
Education/ Experience:
- Experience with children/ youth ministry preferable but not necessary
- Experience working with families in a ministry context
- Experience leading ministry volunteers
- Some Bible college and or seminary preferred but not required but not required
