Position Description

Sanctus Church’s vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of people in Jesus' name.

The role of the Bookkeeper is a key role at Sanctus Church. They will work alongside both the Accounting and Administration teams and will report directly to the Executive Director of Operations. This is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • The majority of this role is to assist the accounting team with day-t0-day accounting and bookkeeping operations, including but not limited to:
  • Accounts Payable - processing staff expense reports in Certify, ensuring organization’s credit cards are balanced and expenses accounted for
  • Accounts Receivable - assisting with the entry and tracking of donations
  • General maintenance of all Quickbooks entries and the chart of accounts
  • Support ministry team leaders throughout the year as it relates to budget and financial matters, including expense management
  • Assist with the annual tax receipt processing from the database and sending to all congregants; answering questions as needed
  • Assist in the work to proactively spot opportunities to minimize expenses 
  • Volunteer management: assist in building a robust counting team
  • Financial reporting for staff and for leadership
  • As time allows, there will be additional administrative duties assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations

Required Skill Set

  • Highly administrative and organized 
  • Quickbooks experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • High degree of technical proficiency is required 
  • Experience with data management and programs such as Hubspot, Planning Center, Slack and Google Suites is an asset
  • Knowledge of accounting software like Certify and/or Pushpay is an asset
  • Knowledge of relevant tax and payroll laws is an asset
  • Post secondary education in an accounting or administrative related field is an asset
