St. Paul’s Bloor Street (SPBS) is a diverse and growing Anglican church located in the heart of downtown Toronto. We are looking for a committed follower of Jesus Christ with a passion for children and families, and a strong desire to serve, learn and grow.

As a member of our ministry staff, the Children’s Minister will report to the Families Minister and be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the Children’s Ministry program, which includes children from birth to grade 5. The focus of the ministry is Sunday mornings with special events held throughout the year.

The Children’s Minister is a relational Christian leader who prays and interacts with the children, parents, and ministry team to ensure the children’s program integrates with the overall ministry of SPBS. This role is one of nurturing our children as followers of Jesus and teaching the rhythms of Christian life. We are particularly interested in a leader who is a qualified Level 1, 2 or 3 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd catechist. 

Key Functions

  • Leadership
  • Manage and oversee Children’s Ministry and Nursery staff
  • Ensure a physically and spiritually safe environment
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for new families
  • Plan and supply teaching materials for all ages for weekly Children’s programs to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience

Ministry Coordination

  • Coordinate with other ministry leaders to nurture the children’s regular participation in intergenerational worship and large special events (such as the Christmas Pageant, Good Friday, and Easter).
  • Works closely with the Families and Youth Ministers to align vision and programming.

Administration

  • Maintain processes for registration and attendance to support safe ministry practices, as well as pastoral connection with children and parents.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • A baptized follower of Christ, active in the life of the Church, and regularly attends worship
  • Theological education helpful but not essential.
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of St. Paul’s Bloor Street.
  • A self-motivated person possessing strong relational skills with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Relational style of leadership and ministry; able to work as part of a ministry team
  • Willing to submit to a police background check and comply with the policies of St. Paul’s

Availability

This position is for 20 to 35 hours per week with a yearly salary (to be negotiated)

Core defined hours on Sunday: 8:30 am – 2 pm, Tuesdays 9:00 am to 5 pm
