We are seeking a passionate and dedicated second Pastor to join and serve our church and local community. Responsibilities include preaching, teaching, pastoral care, leadership development, and collaboration with the Hartland Staff. Candidates should have a theological education, pastoral experience, strong communication skills, and a deep personal faith.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

To provide leadership, in unity with the pastoral staff and Church leadership, to encourage HBC to fulfill its stated Vision and Purpose.

To continually be seeking and determining God’s will for HBC and, in unison with the pastoral staff and Church leadership, be part of reviewing the Vision, Purpose and Core Values of HBC on a regular basis and updating as needed.

Ephesians 4:11-13 describes the pastor as “Christ’s gift to the church”, and their role is to build up and equip God’s people to serve and love others until the body of Christ reaches maturity.

God has gifted each pastor uniquely, and it is our desire that our Pastoral staff is given the freedom to discover, use and develop the gifts and abilities that God has given them, so that they can best serve and equip the congregation at Hartland.  We expect the Pastoral staff to designate and take on the responsibilities of leading the church according to their unique gifting and abilities, and to work in unity and humility with each other in service of the kingdom of God and the Hartland church family.

Pastoral Responsibilities:

The Pastoral staff will work together to develop and deliver a focused and impactful Sunday morning service which includes teaching/preaching.

The Pastoral staff will work in unison to oversee and develop the different ministries of Hartland Baptist Church.  This would include our Sunday morning children’s ministry from nursery age and up, to our mid-week programs such as Youth groups, small groups, and Bible studies.

The Pastoral staff will work in unison to model as well as equip and develop within the Hartland family a heart and desire for outreach and evangelism within HBC itself, our community, and to the world.

The Pastoral staff are to model in themselves a spirit of love and care for those within the HBC family, and in the surrounding community, both in service and other practical ways. This will include such things as visitation, counselling, performing funerals and weddings, and evidencing a genuine heart for hospitality and acceptance of all individuals.

The Pastoral staff are to work to equip and encourage the HBC family to engage in works of love and service within the HBC Family until we all reach maturity within the body of Christ.

The Pastoral Staff see the value and take opportunities as they arise to collaborate with other local ministries and churches to further growth unity within the greater body of Christ in the Prince George area.

Job Qualifications:

Sound Biblical training with a minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in Theology and Ministry from a respected post-secondary institution (college, university or seminary).

Previous experience working as a pastor in a church or ministry setting, and experience working with and developing good working relationships with other staff and volunteers.

Humility and Godliness, with focus is on serving the kingdom of God and not their own kingdom or self-promotion.  This person must desire to work within a staff team, and within the body of Christ at HBC.

Intentional pursuit of personal relationship with God including through prayer and time in God’s Word.

Servant leader, one who leads in the footsteps of Jesus.  Who leads by example and love, who is not authoritarian or overbearing, but instead builds up and develops Godliness and service in others.

Focus on building the kingdom of God and the Body of Christ.  Someone who desires God’s glory and not glory for self or the glory of Hartland Baptist Church.

Sound theology and doctrine that align with HBC’s Statement of Faith.
