Position Description

Summary:

Under the direction of and reporting to the Episcopal Vicar for Mission and Pastoral Service – English Sector and of the Episcopal Vicar for Clergy, the Pastoral Agent for Sacramental Preparation is responsible for the development and implementation of an Archdiocesan sacramental program for Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation which integrates the parish, home, and school.

The Pastoral Agent will act as a resource for parishes in helping them with the success of their programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and evaluate existing sacramental preparation resources, documentation and programs
  • Evaluate current needs relating to sacramental preparation at the various levels (parents, home, school, parish, diocese)
  • Develop sacramental preparation programs to meet those identified needs
  • Develop and implement faith formation and training for Sacramental Preparation Coordinators
  • Implement the Archdiocesan Sacramental Preparation Program In collaboration with the school boards’ religious education departments, with parish Sacramental Preparation Coordinators, their school counterparts and families
  • Attend the Diocesan Sacramental Prep Team meetings and help to address the various action points resulting from those meetings
  • Develop and maintain Sacramental Preparation networks (Parish, Home and School) and create a regular method of communication with those networks
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology or a relevant discipline
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Bilingual (English and French) an asset
  • Experience with sacramental preparation program development and implementation
  • Significant experience in using MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Tact, discretion, diplomacy
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others
  • Recent Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC)

Job type:

  • Fixed-term (6 months)
  • Full-time – 37.5 hours per week.
  • 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (including a 30-minutes unpaid lunch break)
