Position Description

Position Overview: The Worship and Rec Ministry Leader, in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and staff, plays an integral role in providing complete oversight to the Worship and Recreation Ministries at Cobourg Alliance Church. They lead a dedicated team of volunteers in creating meaningful and engaging opportunities and environments that help people connect with God. The primary focus of this role is to cast vision, lead, recruit, motivate, empower, and train the adult and student leaders who will provide a large portion of the hands-on ministry for both the worship team and recreation ministries.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship Ministry (50%):

The WT Leader oversees the Sunday service Worship, Sound, Tech, and Livestream teams at CAC. The WT Leader is not required to lead worship each Sunday; rather, they provide broad oversight, equipping and empowering leaders in their respective areas, while leading or co-leading as appropriate.

Vision and Leadership:

  • Develop and effectively communicate a compelling vision and strategy for worship ministry that inspires and guides the worship ministry team in carrying out the mission of the church.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to establish a unified approach to worship ministry that aligns with the overall vision of the church

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of worship ministry, including practices, Sunday services, and any unique worship services outside of the regular weekly rhythm.
  • Create intentional pathways for the worship team to grow, including onboarding anyone newly interested in the team, providing opportunities for the current team to collaborate, and developing a feedback process for worship team members.
  • Manage scheduling through PCO for Worship, Sound, Tech, and Livestream teams.

Volunteer Recruitment and Development

  • Recruit, train, and empower a team of committed volunteers who are passionate about serving and leading on the Worship, Sound, Tech, and Livestream teams.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and mentorship to volunteers, equipping them with the necessary skills and resources needed to serve effectively in their roles.

Administration and Growth:

  • Oversee ministry administration tasks, such as budgeting, purchasing, and tracking future ministry needs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on additional responsibilities and projects as required to support the overall goals of the ministry.

Recreation Ministry (25%):

Vision and Leadership:

  • Develop and effectively communicate a compelling vision and strategy for Rec Ministry at CAC.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the Rec Ministry team, inspiring and guiding them in carrying out the mission of the church.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to establish a unified approach to CAC’s Recreation ministry that aligns with the overall vision of the church.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of Rec Ministry events at CAC.
  • Explore new ways to expand Rec Ministry beyond its current capacity. Currently the Rec Ministry runs a Summer and Winter Volleyball League and a Ping-Pong, Billiards, and Rummikub night.
  • Integrate recreation aspects into regular CAC gatherings, such as Church in the Park.

Volunteer Recruitment and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and empower a team of committed volunteers who are passionate about serving as part of the Rec Ministry at CAC.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and mentorship to volunteers, equipping them with the necessary skills and resources needed to serve effectively in their roles.

Administration and Growth:

  • Oversee ministry administration tasks, such as budgeting, purchasing, and tracking growth and attendance within the Rec Ministry.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on additional responsibilities and projects as required to support the overall goals of the ministry.

Additional Administrative Responsibilities (25%):

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new volunteers, ensuring compliance with Plan to Protect policies and procedures, including ongoing training and documentation maintenance. Additionally, provide support for administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.
