Full-time 1 year Contract 

Salary commensurate with experience


Pickering Christian School is a Christian Elementary school (JK - Grade 8) that has been in operation for over 35 years in the Durham Region.  Our mission at PCS is focused on “educating the whole child” in a Bible-based environment while developing students who exhibit Christ-like attributes, ownership, mastery, innovation and future ready skills.  Due to the influence and contact with students, potential employment requires that the position be filled by an individual who is a follower of Jesus Christ and is an active member of an evangelical church. Contract Position - September 1, 2024 start date - August 31, 2025 (Possibility of extension September 2025 depending on other teaching needs and performance)

Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM 


  • To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Principal and Vice Principals
  • To be an effective teaching professional who demonstrates a thorough understanding and knowledge of Grade 4 curriculum
  • To accurately and effectively assess students
  • To continue to implement  long-range plans and unit plans that the previous teacher has in place 
  • To demonstrate effective teaching practices that include differentiated instruction to remediate and enrich student learning
  • To take responsibility for professional development and to work in a collaborative working environment
  • To lead, coordinate, and/or support co-curricular activities, sports and/or clubs

Job Requirements:

  • Teacher certification (OCT or equivalent).
  • Effective classroom management
  • Minimum experience of 1 year working with children aged 4 - 13 years old, in a classroom setting
  • Able to assess, monitor, and report on student progress
  • Able to think creatively and to write clear, long and short term plans
  • Able to differentiate instruction and to use inclusive and innovative teaching practices
  • Able to use technology (PC, SmartBoard, Chromebooks) in the classroom
  • Able to to take direction and be open to feedback and new learning opportunities
