Position Description

The Point Church in beautiful Bathurst New Brunswick is seeking a permanent full-time Pastor (or Director depending upon qualifications) of Family Ministries.

This position includes oversight of our children’s program (called KidsPoint) that currently has well-qualified leadership and a group of committed volunteers.  Leadership of our youth programs (called WayPoint and WayPoint+) which also has a committed group of volunteers.  The successful candidate will develop a young-adult ministry and give general oversight to our small-groups.  The Point Church has a strong community presence and typically does two or three community focused events (For example: Trunk or Treat where we have served more than 1400 people, or community ‘Fun Days,’ BBQ’s etc.) These events would also fall under the supervision of the Pastor/Director of Family Ministries.

You would report directly to the Pastor of The Bathurst Point Church and be provided with ongoing support, mentorship, training, and a very well-equipped facility with which to accomplish the mission!  We are looking for an individual with some level of Biblical training, ministry experience, and general aptitude and passion for children, youth, and families.  There is room to dream; we welcome new ideas, better methods, out-of-the-box thinking, and creative endeavors. 

You must be teachable, flexible, and not thrown out of rhythm when things are changed or adjusted.  You will be given a ton of rope and will not be micro-managed.  However, that means an expectation of organization and preparedness.  Our volunteers must be provided with a rewarding experience where they serve.

The Point Church Bathurst is connected with The Point Church Miramichi where we share a Navigation Board giving general oversight, and resources and staff support between the two churches.  We often describe ourselves as ‘One church in two locations.’  In Bathurst, we have seen significant growth over the last 18 months.  More than doubling in attendance (and continuing to grow!), with 28-35 kids in KidsPoint and over 40 in our WayPoint group.  We are contemporary in worship style with a strong core of musicians and technical support.  We are in the planning stages of multiple services and intend to launch in the Fall of this year.  A candidate with musical ability and/or proficiency in technical/sound will find this church a wonderful place to be!
