Job Description - Children’s Ministry Director
We exist to see the nations filled with churches walking in God's love and giving it away until the whole world knows God's glory.
The Vision for this Position
To this end, Catch The Fire in Toronto East is looking for a dynamic leader who has a vision and passion for leading children’s ministry in the context of a local church community rooted in CTF values and culture. The Children's Director is a spiritually mature leader who has a clear sense of call to raise up the next generation of devoted Jesus followers.
This leader will have the capacity to:
- equip children to grow in their faith and to encounter God’s transforming presence,
- lead and develop a healthy team of children’s workers, and
- liaise well with the parents of the children involved at CTF Toronto East.
The Children’s Director will also:
- Provide resources, training and opportunities for the children’s workers to grow in their spiritual development, gifts and skills.
- Actively contribute to the growth and development of the pastoral team, which includes but isn’t limited to pastor meetings, pastor retreats, staff meetings, vision meetings, etc.
- Lead a Connect Group comprised of the children’s workers community.
- Engage laterally with other Children’s Directors within the Catch The Fire World, developing relationships across the movement by contributing in whatever ways possible.

You will work closely with the Senior Leader to set goals and implement strategies. Our goal is to see you grow personally and professionally.
What will the job be like?
You will lead a small team of children’s workers who are motivated to see children grow in their faith through encounters with God. You will be required to:
- Oversee all aspects of children’s ministry for Sundays, other potential weekday or weekend events, Summer VBS, summer and winter camps, Christmas and Easter programs.
- Administrate children’s ministry including children’s worker applications making sure all procedures are followed as Part of the Plan to Protect program.
- Organise supplies for children’s ministry. Organise teaching roster for children’s workers.
- Supervise children’s workers equipping and training them to minister effectively. Teaching with them and helping them to prepare lessons when necessary. Being sensitive to the personal needs of children’s workers and caring for them. Regularly meet with children’s workers to ensure they are envisioned and feel cared for. In conjunction with Senior Leader, recruit new volunteers when needed.
- Establish and maintain a curriculum that is age appropriate and that communicates effectively the core values and culture of Catch the Fire.
- Include parents in children’s ministry. Give feedback to parents on how their children are progressing and what they are learning. Creatively involve parents in practical ways in children’s ministry especially in larger events like Christmas and Easter presentations.
- Report regularly to Senior Leader on progress on children’s ministry and provide ideas on ways to effectively minister to parents regarding family dynamics.
- Generally look for ways to make children’s ministry a blessing to all involved especially with regard to the logistics of doing children’s ministry, issues with storage, etc.
What are the qualifications required?
- Must be able to legally work for a salary in Canada.
- An obvious gift and calling to minister effectively and healthily to children.
- Demonstrated qualities of a team player.
- A clear commitment to personal pursuit of Jesus and living according to his holy standards.
- A demonstrated anointing to minister in the manifest gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- A desire and proven ability to raise up leaders and build community.
- Excellent communication skills - written and oral.
- Fluency in English (other languages an asset).
- Bible-based training (degree, certificate, diploma) an asset.
- Working knowledge of social media and other online platforms.
- Capacity to work well with others.
- Self-motivated & excellent work ethic.
- An obvious desire for personal growth and professional development.
What’s the compensation?
- This is a part-time position (two days a week) with room for expansion.
