Position Description
Title: Pastor or Director of Worship (The title will be assigned based upon previous work experience, education, and ministry calling)
Location: London, Ontario
Denomination: Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada (FEBC)
Accountability: Lead Pastor
Job Status: Full-Time is preferred. Flexibility options can be discussed.
Summary: As the key staff point-person for worship, you will oversee the worship ministry at Summerside Community Church (SCC) and work with the church staff team to create and lead Christ-centered, Biblical based, and Spirit led worship services. You will be responsible to plan, prepare, practice, serve, and lead the worship ministry at SCC. You will build and lead the Worship Team and its members, while providing them with training. You will seek to raise up new worship leaders and worshiping musicians, especially among young people. Our leadership seeks to take the overall worship ministry to the next level as we grow.

- Lead by example in your deepening communion with the Lord to encourage and disciple musicians under your oversight
- Cultivate an increasing passion to worship God among the congregation through your leadership
- Build a united and growing team of worship leaders and musicians that strives for excellence while pointing people to Jesus and inspiring others to worship
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Lead Pastor and staff to support the vision and ministry of the church
- Develop yourself professionally through education, coaching, feedback and input
- Adaptable to a one or two service worship model per Sunday (currently 350-400+ attendees)
Specific Duties
- Serving as the primary worship leader for our worship services on Sunday mornings
- Developing and leveraging other worship leaders according to their gifts and our needs
- Leading the band through worship rehearsals
- Identifying, recruiting, training, and developing worship team members and leaders
- Handling administrative duties pertaining to the worship ministry (scheduling and planning)
- Providing appropriate feedback and coaching for worship team members and worship leaders
- Organizing and optimizing the audio-visual function in support of services
- Oversee worship auxiliary functions in other ministry areas, especially in youth ministry
Musical/Leadership Competencies
- Must have strong musical skills: able to vocalize and play an instrument in a manner consistent with a contemporary worship style
- Able to shepherd both instrumentalists and vocalists to be a cohesive team
- Must understand how to use media and technology in an effective way to contribute to worship
- Must have strong organizational and relational abilities consistent with a ministry leadership role
- Must demonstrate initiative, creativity, and excellence in leading within the established vision
- Must be a ministry builder and equipper, with skill in recruiting, developing, evaluating, and encouraging volunteer leaders and teams.
- Must be committed to ongoing improvement, with an understanding of both strengths and weaknesses.

- Demonstrate a Christian lifestyle that reflects the spiritual character qualifications of an Elder found in 1 Timothy 3
- Full alignment with our Vision, Mission, Core Values and Philosophy of Worship at SCC
- Full agreement to abide by SCC By-laws and all policies
- Able to fully agree with the doctrinal statement of SCC and be able to serve within the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada (FEBC)
Education and Experience
- Degree, Certificate or Diploma in a relevant field such as: biblical/theological, worship, music, leadership is preferred. However, work experience and/or education equivalency will be taken into consideration
- Strong communication and relational skills
- Proven experience leading corporate worship in a church setting, knowledge of musicianship, and skill in playing one or more instruments.
