Position Description

Context

Our vision is to become a regional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’s name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

Role

The Executive Pastor of Ministries will be a key leader on the Senior Leadership Team of Sanctus Church, directly overseeing multiple critical ministry areas. This person will lead a team of pastors and ministry leaders responsible for Alpha, Local & Global Partnerships, Care, Prayer, and Connect Groups holding accountability for these areas for the Senior Leadership Team. The Executive Pastor of Ministries will have a strategic voice at a Senior level and will exert visionary influence on these ministries in order to perpetuate them as the church grows. Additionally, the Executive Pastor of Ministries will be given overall leadership of exciting new strategic ministry endeavours such as Sanctus’ leadership program.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shepherd the central ministries of Sanctus in our five Discipleship Dimensions.
• Facilitate a volunteer culture at Sanctus across all sites by working with the Volunteer Coordinator to help pastors to build teams, identify, develop and empower leaders, and be an ‘equipper of the saints’.
• Pastor and care for the pastors and staff in the Ministries Department.
• Oversight of church-wide prayer ministry
• Provide overall vision and leadership for Family Ministries across all our sites
• Meet bi-weekly with all Direct Reports, perform annual reviews and ensure annual SMART Goals are completed for every member of the Ministries Department.
• Sit on the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic leadership and vision implementation in a team environment.
• Provide leadership to the growing external movement of ‘Deliverance’ in partnership with the SLT.
• Budget planning and ongoing management.
• Regularly appreciate staff and volunteers.

Education & Experience

• University Degree desired; Seminary Degree (complete or in progress) preferred.
• The following are beneficial and strongly desired:
• 5+ years of experience as a pastor. 
• Familiarity with Sanctus Church.
• Experience working in a multi-staff, large, church context.
• Work experience in a fast-paced, high-caliber team environment.
• Able to provide a minimum of 3 character and work-related references.
