Position Description

Zion Baptist Church is a Christ-centered family who reaches people for Jesus, encourages growth and shows His love in action. Zion is affiliated with the British Columbia Baptist Association, part of the North American Baptist Conference since 1956. Nestled in the coastal mountains in beautiful northern BC, Terrace is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts and has everything you need without the hustle of a large major center. We are seeking to fill the pastor position for our church of approximately 50 people and are looking forward to growing even more in our love for Jesus with a new leader!

Reporting To: Board of Zion Baptist Church
Position Type: Full-time; Permanent

Requirements:

• To be called by God
• 3-4 years of theological education and training, M.Div preferred
• 3-5 years minimum ministry experience ideally as a solo or senior pastor
• Basic counselling skills

Responsibilities:

• To reflect the values and pursue the mission of Zion Baptist Church;
• To preach/teach the Word of God through weekly sermons.
• Serve as ex-officio member on all boards and committees of the church;
• Work in close harmony with the board and ministry leaders to develop vision, mission, strategic planning and outreach opportunities;
• Disciple and shepherd congregants and church leaders to help them pursue growth and leadership development;
• To represent Zion Baptist Church in the community of Terrace, the British Columbia Baptist Association, the Terrace Ministerial and the general public;
• Maintain relationships with commercial neighbours, and community organizations such as the food bank and shelters;
• To fulfill other responsibilities as agreed to in cooperation with the board, including but not limited to weddings, funerals and basic counselling needs.
