Church Background and Location
Westway Christian Church is a small church located at the corner of Kipling and The Westway in Etobicoke. Our address is #6 Kilburn Place, Etobicoke, ON, M9R 2X5. Coming from the Restoration Movement background, the church believes in the inerrancy of the all the 66 books of the Bible and observes baptism by immersion and weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper.
We are a multi-cultural congregation with over-half of the congregation coming from the Filipino Canadian, Hispanic and South-Asian communities along with white and black Canadians.
We operate a food bank ministry every Tuesday and other programs that serve the Etobicoke community.

Position Description
This is offered as an internship position from October 2024 to June 2025. The intern will receive a $250 monthly stipend. Our hope is that Lord-willing, we may offer more pay in the future.
Purpose
To work alongside the Pastor in our Youth and Young Adults group (The Unlikely) to further develop the ministry of Westway Christian Church.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s primary responsibility is to collaborate with the pastor and with the current ministry leaders to oversee the implementation and development of The Unlikely.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating The Unlikely programming for the year
- Collaborating with The Unlikely leaders in delivering Bible studies, devotions, events, and facilitating small group discussions
- Supporting the pastor with volunteer recruitment, scheduling and training
- Supporting Sunday service preparation
- Supporting the church’s outreach, outings, camps and retreats activities
- Communicating regularly and collaborating with the pastor and team leaders to provide support for ministry development
- Providing administrative support through annual budget planning and expense management
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should:
- Possess spiritual and emotional maturity; they should believe in sound doctrines; demonstrate character of Christ-like character; and desire continuous spiritual growth
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree and have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the youth ministry
- Be self-motivated, have good time management, possess strong administrative abilities and have high attention to details
- Be proficient in MS Office and Google Suite
- Be a good communicator, a strong team worker with good people skills and competent conflict resolution experience
- Be willing to submit and follow the church’s ministry philosophy
- Be a lifetime learner in leadership, ministry, and discipleship
- Be fluent in written and spoken English
- Be willing to work on Saturday and evening as needed
- Experience in volunteer management is an asset
- Experience in youth ministry curriculum planning is an asset
- Spoken Tagalog is an asset
- Current First Aid certification is preferred, but not required
- Criminal record check is required
