About us:

Logos Baptist Church (Mississauga) is a tri-congregational (three languages) community. Our church consists of Cantonese, English, and Mandarin congregations all working together as one large family under the leadership of one Senior Pastor. We are a mid-sized church with a combined weekly attendance of 300+.

About the role:

The Cantonese Ministry Pastor is called by the church to full time pastoral duties serving our Cantonese congregation. The Cantonese Ministry Pastor is responsible for leadership, under the supervision of the Senior Pastor, in developing long-term spiritual welfare and growth, as well as ministerial direction of the Cantonese congregation.

The Cantonese Pastor shall give himself/herself consistently to the ministry of the Word and to prayer; be responsible to preach the Word, conduct the church ordinances, provide spiritual care as well as equip the believers so the faith community could use their gifts to engage in ministries of the church.

Pastoral Duties:                                                                     

Preaching and Teaching: Delivering Biblically grounded sermons during worship services and teaching Biblical Truth in Bible studies & Sunday School classes.

Pastoral Care: Providing spiritual guidance, counseling, and pastoral care to the designated congregation.

Evangelism: Planning, training and leading congregants to engage in personal and corporate evangelism.

Maintaining Regular Worship Services: Planning and leading spiritual, and biblical worship services. Ensuring the proper and timely administration of church ordinances including Baptism and Holy Communion.

Training/Equipping: Training congregational Core Leaders, leadership training, discipleship training, evangelism training and other forms of training which builds up God’s people for all manners of service.

Participation in Church Leadership:

• Participate in regular church pastoral team meetings as directed by the Senior Pastor in order to guide the direction and growth of the church.
• Participate actively and collegially in multiple levels of church leadership, including Board of Directors, Church Council, Core Groups, Departments etc., and provide timely guidance.
• Attend and contribute in annual church AGM and other member meetings.
• Liaise with other churches, denominations and para-church agencies

Qualifications:

• Fluency in Cantonese (writing and speaking) and ability to communicate in English (writing and oral). Mandarin speaking is an asset but not a must.
• A Master Degree of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent level of theological education at an accredited theological institution or a Theological School recognized by LBCM.
• At least 2 years of experience pastoring a Cantonese-speaking congregation is preferred.
