  • Sunday: 7 am - 1 pm

TECHNICAL MINISTRIES ASSISTANT

Reporting to the Technical Ministries Director, the primary role of the Technical Ministries Assistant is to oversee the recording and editing of video content for all PORTICO campuses, ensuring that videos are produced in line with the Marketing calendar. This role collaborates with the Communications team and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and engaging digital presence for PORTICO.

The Technical Ministries Assistant will have a firm grasp on the church’s mission, vision and strategy, and working in harmony with the pastoral team and ministry staff, will equip leaders and ministry partners to carry out PORTICO’S ENDs. To accomplish the expectations of this role, their emphasis will be given to building robust systems of relational and spiritual trust amongst all staff, ministry partners and church attendees, in order to ensure that the church is healthy, vibrant, and growing.

This role necessitates a leadership style that is servant-hearted and characterized by Christ-like attitudes. The leader must embrace a passion for individual spiritual development, exercise open and honest communication, be intentional in committing to initiating reconciliation & restoration when in disagreements, and express and maintain loyalty, confidentiality & support of the church leadership. Strong technical and operational skills and experience, as well as a thorough understanding and commitment to working in a large church, multi-staff setting, will be critical for success in this role.

The Technical Ministries Assistant will be directly supervised by the Technical Ministries Director, which includes but is not limited to: leadership support, goal setting, performance evaluation, mentoring and training.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Video Production and Editing:

  • Oversee the recording and editing of video content for weekly eBlasts, Daily Devotionals, Sunday announcements, website, church App, social media posts, and PORTICO’s Learning Hub.
  • Ensure all video content aligns with the Marketing calendar.

Video Storage Management:

  • Manage PORTICO’s video storage accounts on Vimeo, Resi, and YouTube, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.

Social Media Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Communications Assistant to schedule posts/stories/reels on PORTICO’s social media accounts, ensuring consistent messaging across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Technical Support:

  • Assist the Technical Ministries Director in implementing and delivering tech support at all PORTICO campuses for Sunday morning worship services and other scheduled events. Ensure a technically sound and pleasing experience in all areas of the church.

Tech Environment Maintenance:

  • Assist the Technical Ministries Director with maintaining and updating the Tech Environment Brief.

Digital Display Management:

  • Manage the content for the digital displays throughout the church.

Live Production:

  • Operate the video switcher, control room, and direct cameras in a fast-paced live environment that emphasizes creativity and technological innovation.
  • Attend weekly rehearsals to prepare for live productions.

Livestream Management:

  • Manage the operation of PORTICO’s online livestream on Sunday mornings and ensure that the livestream feed is fully operational for all service times.

Content Editing and Uploading:

  • Edit and upload the weekly message to PORTICO’s digital channel.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

As a member of PORTICO’s technical staff, this role requires that you personally embrace, actively promote and support PORTICO’s mission, vision, core values and Ends within all expressions of the church community. This position is often involved in sensitive situations and the individual may become aware of privileged information requiring sound judgment and discretion. Strict confidentiality must be maintained when dealing with the elder board, pastoral or congregational related issues. A violation of confidentially is grounds for immediate dismissal.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in video production and editing.
  • Proficiency with video storage platforms such as Resi and YouTube.
  • Familiarity with social media management and content scheduling.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to provide tech support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, live production environment.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Adaptable and results driven.
  • Capable of supporting cross-functional roles and church events.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Familiarity with computer software programs used by PORTICO.
