Position Description

Vision

The Director of Family Ministries will care for the children and their families in our congregation with the aim to spiritually nurture their faith in Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

1. To oversee the children’s Sunday School program of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. This program takes place on Sunday, 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. At present, there are three classes: Junior Truth Seekers (pre-school to Grade 1), and Senior Truth Seekers (Grade 2 to 4), and Deep Divers (Grade 5 to 8).
2. This includes leading children’s worship, teaching by rotation, supervising volunteer teachers and assistants, preparing the rotation schedule for teachers and assistants, managing the curriculum resources, and providing the training volunteers need to ensure an effective children’s ministry.
3. To ensure the provision of pastoral care to families with children in the congregation.

Qualifications

1. A mature and experienced Christian teacher
2. Foundational biblical and theological studies would be an asset
3. Must support the ministry direction of the church
4. Have strong administration and communication skills
5. Be able to work well with volunteers and teams
6. Must have clean Vulnerable Sector Screening status

Accountability

1. To the Lead Pastor and the Session
2. The position is a part-time contract position of 8 hours/week, at $25/hour, paid monthly; it will have a 6-month probationary period; after completing the probationary period, the contract will be renewed annually.
