Position Description

Position: Assistant Pastor for Youth Ministry

Position Overview:

Richmond Hill (Chinese) Baptist Church is seeking a mature Christian with a clear vocational calling to serve God in youth ministry. The Assistant Pastor for Youth Ministry will be responsible for planning, developing and overseeing the youth ministry within the English Speaking Congregation. This role involves shepherding the younger generation, guiding them to grow in their faith, and helping them become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and oversee the youth ministry for junior high, senior high, and university age groups
  • Minister to youth through biblical teaching, discipleship and pastoral care
  • Recruit, equip and train lay youth workers to lead and serve in the ministry.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to plan and implement the church’s vision for Cross-Generational Worship and Discipleship

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Graduate of a recognized seminary with a Master of Theological Studies (MTS), Master of Divinity (MDiv), or an equivalent degree.
  • Identifies with and supports the Baptist beliefs and practices.
  • Demonstrates mature faith in Jesus Christ, with godliness in character, and able to lead and provide a role model for youths in their spiritual growth
  • Strong passion for youth, with gifts in outreach, discipleship and mentorship. A solid understanding of the culture and needs of Canadian-born Chinese teens is essential.
  • Experience in youth ministry is required.
  • Sincere, mature, reliable, and relatable, with the ability to communicate effectively with youths of all ages and their parents. A self-starter, and is committed to continual learning.
  • A team player who works well in a collaborative church environment.
  • Proficient in English; Cantonese language skills are an asset but not mandatory.
