Position Description

Potential Ministries is a planned church plant starting at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario with a vision to become a network of churches on other college campuses. Potential will operate with a model where every week we come together as a church to serve, worship, have discussion, and grow in our faith together. Our primary ministry focus is on the campus we’re on as we want to help students and introduce them to Jesus, but we also want to reach out to the surrounding community to help and share the gospel with as many people as possible. We also believe that unity in the body of Christ is very important, so we want to be a connection point between other churches and act as a foot in the door for their campus outreach.

Potential has 4 pillars to our approach to our campus outreach.

4. Mentorship

It likely won’t be the same every week, but there is a plan for our typical Sunday gatherings.

2pm: Meet up on campus to serve students.
4pm: Worship service.
5pm: Group discussions.
6pm: Close.

We are looking for more people to join Potential to help turn our vision into reality. We need new members to add to our leadership team and others who are willing to commit to helping launch this church. We believe that God doesn’t look at people the same way the world does, so we’re not that concerned about appearing qualified, but we are looking for people who are spiritually mature and display good character. Members of the leadership team will likely have to start as volunteers due to a current lack of funding, but leadership positions will become paid positions when Potential has enough money to pay our leaders.

We are looking to fill various roles including, but not limited to:

• Worship Leader
• Lead Evangelist
• Administrator
• Accountant

General leader responsibilities:

• Leading group discussions.
• Participating in campus and community outreach.
• Attending leaders meetings.
• Social media management.
• Fundraising.
• Helping establish partnerships with other groups such as churches and student unions.
