Position Description

Position Overview

The Warehouse Furniture & Delivery Assistant will support both warehouse operations and truck deliveries. This role involves collaborating with the Mission Thrift Store Hamilton team and reporting directly to the Store Manager.  This is a part time position.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Assist with truck operations and warehouse tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in all work areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.

Secondary Duties:

  • Stand and walk for the majority of the day.
  • Frequently reach, bend, and stretch.
  • Lift and carry goods as required.
  • Work every other Saturday.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience:

  • Experience in retail sales and working with volunteers is preferred.

Knowledge:

  • The Warehouse Furniture & Delivery Assistant should be familiar with the following areas:
  • Ability to read and follow store policies and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of WHMIS; certification is required or willingness to obtain it.
  • Understanding of proper lifting techniques.

Skills:

  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following skills:
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid (G) Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Strong conflict resolution abilities.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound decision-making and independent judgment.
  • Basic computer skills for communication and delivery route planning.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.

Appointment

Upon appointment, the Warehouse Furniture & Delivery Assistant will sign an Agreement with the Mission Thrift Store Hamilton. In doing so, the individual agrees to respect the Foundational Statements of BFM Foundation (Canada), including the Statement of Faith, and comply with the policies and procedures of BFM (Hamilton) Enterprises Society.
