Iawah is a year-round, non-denominational Christian camp located in the heart of Eastern Ontario. Key Responsibilities
Assistant Cook (50%)
- Work as the lead cook for guest groups and summer camps, ensuring high-quality meals are prepared on time (up to 250 people).
- Learn about menu planning, inventory management, and food ordering.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all health and safety protocols.
- Lead kitchen teams, including staff, volunteers, and youth leadership campers.
- Learn about adapting to various dietary needs (e.g., gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free) and provide creative meal options.
Facility Assistant (50%)
- Assist the Facilities Director in maintaining Iawah’s property, systems, buildings, and equipment.
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, construction, and property upkeep. (training offered)
- Take part in seasonal projects and renovations, working independently or with a team.
- Learn all aspects of facility management and gradually assume more responsibility.
- Supervise and lead facility teams, including staff, volunteers, and leadership campers
Qualifications
- Education: Post-secondary training in food services or construction is preferred (or relevant work experience).
- Experience: Previous experience in food service, maintenance, or team leadership is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead teams.
- Faith: A commitment to Christian ministry and the ability to uphold Iawah’s mission, vision, core values, and statement of faith.
- Other Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, ability to work flexible hours (including weekends and holidays), and satisfactory completion of a Police Records Check and vulnerable sector screening.
