Iawah Christian Ministries seeks a dedicated Assistant Cook / Guest Service Staff to join our dynamic team! At Iawah, we provide a year-round Christian camping experience that nurtures faith, builds community, and develops leadership. Our camp is located in the heart of Eastern Ontario, offering an inspiring space for guests to grow spiritually and experience the beauty of God’s creation. Key Responsibilities
Assistant Cook (50%)
- Work as the lead cook for guest groups and summer camps, ensuring high-quality meals are prepared on time (up to 250 people).
- Learn about menu planning, inventory management, and food ordering.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all health and safety protocols.
- Lead kitchen teams, including staff, volunteers, and youth leadership campers.
- Learn about adapting to various dietary needs and provide creative meal options.
Guest Service Staff (50%)
- Prepare accommodations and buildings for guest groups, including housekeeping, laundry, and grounds maintenance.
- Work with the Managing Director to ensure all buildings and facilities meet expectations.
- Train and lead seasonal housekeeping teams, volunteers, and leadership campers.
- Take initiative and work independently, ensuring the facility is always guest-ready.
- Help with general upkeep, including painting and deep cleaning when necessary.
Qualifications
- Education: Post-secondary training in food services is preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
- Experience: Previous work in food services and/or guest services is preferred. Leadership experience is an asset.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead teams.
- Faith: A heart for Christian ministry and a commitment to Iawah’s vision, mission, core values, and statement of faith.
- Other Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, ability to work flexible hours (including weekends and holidays), and satisfactory completion of a Police Records Check and vulnerable sector screening.
